Very rustic, yes, but that's what we loved about it. The log cabins are well kept, but they are small. There's no internet or TV to bother you! We were there in September, so the temperature was cooler, no AC needed.

We stayed two nights in July. It was perfect for our family of four with a short walk to the North Rim and great hiking trails. There is little privacy if your windows are open but that didn't seem to be a problem. We did not anticipate that the only food options were the expensive (and marginal) cafe or the more expensive dining room. It was probably our fault in not reading the web site better. We just worked around that by bringing our camp stove to a picnic area and having a lovely dinner right on the Rim. That was an experience that might not have been possible on the more crowded South Rim.

Room Tip: Be prepared that it is a walk from the parking lot to you cabin while carrying your luggage.

We only stayed one night as we were on a National Park tour, but the lodge was everything we had hope for. With cabins right on the edge of the rim the scenery was great. Although rustic with no internet, TV or radio, if you stay at any National Parks, you realize this is the norm, the cabin was warm and comfy. The propane fireplace was a plus as was the old fashion bathroom. Not five star by any means but an experience we'll never forget.

Room Tip: Choose a room as close to the rim as possible

Stayed at the motel back in the woods somewhere, a 10 minute walk to the main lodge. No internet, no TV, no AC, one chair, low wattage lighting, low water shower heads, tiny bathroom, old hard bed, no closet, very rustic. Expensive for the price. Difficult to get bags to motel room from parking across the street, had to drag them through the dirt & dust. The whole point is to make people hang out at the main lodge and interact with other people. The main lodge is all about the veranda. Excellent place to hang out and just look at the canyon as the view changes throughout the day. Get a few drinks from the excellent saloon and just chill. Saloon bartenders are great, even when busy. Main restaurant is in lodge and looks like a great place, however, low wattage lighting makes it hard to read menus, food was so-so, service terrible. If it wasn’t the only restaurant in the place I would eat somewhere else. You are there for the views of the canyon, not for accommodations or eats. It is a shame, because this could be a special place to visit if they just dressed it up a bit. We probably won’t be going back.

Room Tip: Cabins are closer to lodge and rim, but paths take people right past your window all day and night.

Our two-night stay at the North Rim was a delight in every way except for the wind - but no one could have predicted that. We had reserved a Western Cabin over a year in advance and were not disappointed. We arrived early and were able to pick Western Cabin #308, which provided spectacular views from the front porch. The inside of the cabin was cozy, clean, and comfortable, including all the amenities one could ask for (soaps, shampoo, coffeemaker, refrigerator, linens, comfortable beds, and warmth). And it was just a short walk to the North Rim Lodge, Visitor Center, and rim trails. I did not get pictures of the inside of the cabin; but we had no complaints about any of the furnishings which were rustic as expected. A bit higher than we would normally spend for a room, but the service and ambience excelled.

Cute cabins right near the rim. Beds not very comfy and rather stuffy on warm days with no real privacy if you leave windows open. BUT, the location, views and historic nearby lodge can't be beat. Our favorite thing to do was sit in the chairs overlooking the canyon with our lunch, feet propped up on the low stone wall.

We loved the views of the canyon from the Lodge on the North Rim but were delegated to a cabin a fair walk away. We had to park away from the cabin and carry the suitcases ourselves. The high altitude made any exertion a difficult task. Our cabin was rustic with log furniture, a heater (gets cold 37F at night), fridge, and coffee making facilities but no wi fi or tv. We have travelled many National Parks of USA and this was the first time that the lodge didn't provide wifi. We booked into the dining room on arrival around 4.30pm but couldn't secure a suitable reservation until 8.45pm (9.45 in our old time zone). The long-awaited meal was tasty but definitely overpriced. I would recommend that people make a day trip to the North Rim and stay elsewhere. We were so lucky to see the rare white tailed squirrel the next morning which was the highlight of of our trip.
