The location was definitely the highlight of this place and worth the stay. Perched on the rim of the Grand Canyon, it was a 10-second walk from our door to the a gorgeous view right beside the Outlook Studio. It is a bare bones lodging, with a separate little closet for the toilet, sink in the room and a shower down the hall. The walls are thin, so we were able to hear the alarm that kept going off in the next room and the man snoring through it, but it was clean and as advertised.
Dinner at the Arizona room was okay, the food was a bit overcooked but the waiter gave great service and a good recommendation for viewing the canyon. The breakfast burrito must have weighed a pound, so you could save a bit of money by splitting it!

I am glad you enjoyed the historic Bright Angel Lodge. I am not glad to read that your meal in the Arizona Room was a disappointment. I recently had dinner thare and it was very good, so I think yours was an anomaly. I hope that the server took care of the issue at the time, and it souinds like the server provided good customer service. Thank you for sharing your comments.

One can never expect too much from a park hotel or lodge. The heating system in the cabins are so annoying, they make a very loud banging noise when heating the room. The sheets on our bed also smelt very odd as did the entire complex. However it is perfectly located next to the South Rim making it very easy to explore. The early morning coffee is also a nice touch. It does what is says on the tin, nothing more.

Thank you for your comments on our Bright Angel Lodge. The location is great, but the rooms must have a clean fresh feel to make guests comfortable. I am sorry you did not feel the room was fresh and will forward to our rooms department for their attention.

We spent the night at the South rim in these cabins and although they are a little light on modern amenities I think that gives them a particular charm. They were cosy and had a great modern bathroom and the beds were nice and comfy. And we were literally a stones throw from the Canyon Rim. Checkin and out was a breeze and our stay at the Canyon is one of lifes great memeories. What an amazing place and to be able to wander out our front door at night and view it all was just so special. Definitely a tick off my Bucket list.

Room Tip: Definitely try for a cabin close to the rim

I am gl;ad yoiu were able to experience a bit of history in our Bright Angel Lodge. Built in 1935 and designed by Mary Colter, it offers a great location and affordable accomodations. We strive to maintain all of our lodges in good, clean condition and are proud of the history at the canyon that dates to 1905. Thank you for sharing.

We booked a cabin on the rim with partial views and thats exactly what we got. We could see glimpses of the canyon from all 3 windows. The cabin was cute and well maintained. The only complaint was that the bed was small (double size) and the pillows were terrible very flat, they could have supplied extra pillows or just get new ones considering the other comments made on this property. We ate several times at the cafe and found the food, service great and the price very reasonable, particularly that if you were at a similar location back home you would be paying top dollar. Overall a wonderful place to say and even though during the day there are a lot of day trippers milling around you can always retreat to your cute cabin.

Room Tip: You must get a rim view cabin, its worth it.

Wife and I, 30th anniversary trip to Grand Canyon, one night in Bright Angel Lodge cabin just a few steps from the Rim Trail and only a few more steps to the Bright Angel Trailhead. Windows looked out onto the canyon. Easy to be up before sunrise to see the sunrise over the canyon. Eating in the informal restaurant in the lodge was convenient, efficient and good. The company that manages the facilities (Xanterra, I think) seems to have their act together and have an enthusiastic and pleasant staff. It was a good experience all the way around.

Room Tip: Remember, the cabins are non-luxury facilities, quite satisfactory for an overnight on the rim.

There are several hotel options at the Grand Canyon from economy to more luxury. Bright Angel Lodge is more economical, depending on your choice of cabin and number of people. After visiting 4 times and always wanting to stay close to the Rim, I was able to book a single Cabin room for 2. Be sure to book way ahead, especially in prime season. (maybe 6 months in advance) Since my stay was off season, I was able to book my Bright Angel room within 2 months. Do not expect these cabins to be luxurious. They are cabins, with a rustic feel. Very cute, well kept inside and out. The beds are adequate, not cushy and the room is small but has a TV, refrigerator, coffee maker and a decent size updated bathroom. (there is an attached hair dryer and shampoo/soap dispensers in the BR's) All the cabin rooms may not have all the previous amenities but they are all clean and comfy. The location can't be beat! All the cabins are within about 100 yards of the rim. The Bright Angel Lodge (located right on the rim) houses the gift shop, Resturarant, Museum, check in desk, ( all the workers were friendly and helpful) Information desk and restrooms. Everything you need to make your stay pleasant and convenient. There is free parking and an adequate amount of spaces so you can park near your cabin. There are other food options near the cabins, too. The Arizona room and El Tovar are within walking distance. Good options if your stay is more than a few days and you want some other night life than just sitting in your cabin. We were pleased with our Cabin room and our stay at the Bright Angel Lodge.

Room Tip: If you want to view the canyon, ask for a Rim view cabin. Cabins do not have air conditioning.

We stayed in Bright Angel Lodge (Buckey Lodge) in September. The room was small by today’s standards. The bathroom was quite small. The building, although solidly-timbered, somehow transmits sound as though the walls were made of tissue paper. Add in the fact that many of the guests are getting up early to prepare for this hike or that mule-ride and you’ve got a fairly loud building. The guest-room doors, which are solid, close with a reverberating thud that can be heard throughout the rest of the building. But you know what? We wouldn’t change a thing. This Bright Angel Lodge is a magical place and the rooms were built to long-ago standards for long-ago people. They nestled the buildings perfectly. Bright Angel Lodge blends with the landscape. Mule deer fawns bedded down in the bushes 25 feet outside the door. A bull elk tending his cows less than 100 yards away. And our walk to “The View” might have taken all of 15 seconds.

The room was clean and everything was serviceable. The staff was great. They had good attitudes and were able to answer our questions. Coffee and various pastries available at 6:00 a.m. in the bar area. No, we wouldn’t change a thing and already have reservations for next year.

Room Tip: Check down near the railroad tracks just prior to dusk for elk coming out of the woods to browse...
