Maswick Lodge is a cluster of 2-storey lodges next to a large cafeteria-style eatery. The actual eatery building is very nice, with lots of clean space, good seating, very high ceilings and comfortable setting. Although we were given a wifi password, the wifi did not work in our particular unit. When we inquired about this, we were told that some units do not have wifi because they are too far from the wifi signal (strangely, they don't have a list of units without wifi, and instead, they simply hand out the passwords to everyone and let them find out themselves that the wifi does not work). Everything inside our unit was old...old carpeting, old furniture, old lighting, old curtains, but everything worked,so I can't complain, especially since the location in GC Village was fantastic. I would have given a 3-star for the lodge except for the complete lack of exterior lighting. It was pitch black...so dark, that we could not walk to/from our car and the cafeteria because we could not see the curb or tell if there were obstacles in our path. We had to stand in the headlight beam of passing cars in order to see the curb, and obviously standing in front of cars presents its own hazards, since the lighting was so poor that we could not be certain that drivers always saw us. I'm surprised that there hasn't been a mishap yet. I don't understand why some much-needed very basic minimal lighting could not have bee installed in the parking area so that pedestrians can safely walk to their cars. Because this safety issue is rather outrageous, I have decided a 1-star.

Massillon lodge is about the same caliber of a Motel 6. It’s BIG advantage is location!
Right in the park and a 5 minute walk to the rim.
I’d prefer to stay somewhere nicer but getting into the canyon is difficult ...so I still say this is better than staying in Williams.
Room was clean, hot showers, safe and quite. But we had no a/c...
I’d check that b/4 booking in Summer.

Very dated interior - location is good. The only reason for staying there is the location.
After more than two weeks, the deposit has not been reimbursed. And according to their mail, this can only be handled over the phone?? Terrible customer service!

Quiet, fairly spacious room with some of the most fragrant soaps to use. Plenty of hot water, steps from the trail, and very close to the Maswik gift shop and dining. It was less than staying at the nearby town and far handier. I wouldn’t have traded this room for any of the town lodging. There is an emphasis on recycling, which is nice to see. I highly recommend staying on site.

Just stayed at the Maswick Lodge and couldn't have been happier. It is in a central location to the South Rim and the bus routes (one bus route is just outside the main building and the canyon and other bus routes are a short walk). Stayed in Yellow Pine building on second floor - vaulted ceilings, balcony, ceiling fan, air conditioning, safe and newly renovated bathroom. Main building houses great food court - something for everyone. Also walking distance to other hotels - El Tovar and Angel Lodge - both with restaurants. Great place to stay.

Room Tip: Ask for second floor.
