Sol Duc Hot Springs Resort
Reviewed 2 June 2014

We planned a night here as part of 4 days in Olympic National Park. I am so glad we did not miss this hidden treasure. I have stayed in cabins at several national parks. This one is up there among the best of the best! Room was clean, convenient, and the beds were very comfortable. The restaurant was very good and all the servers and workers at the resort were friendly and glad to help in anyway needed. Some were not very familiar with the area as the season is just beginning and they are here for summer. The hot springs were such a treat and I felt the dressing rooms were clean and much better than I had expected. There was one person checking the temperature etc of the pools constantly. They were very clean. They ranged from 106 to 98 degrees. The large freshwater pool was 70 and a bit cold for this time of year for swimming. We would definitely come again if we were in the area .

My husband and I spent two pleasant nights in a double cabin that was small but comfortable and clean. Not being experienced with hot springs, we were happy with the cleanliness and management of the 3 naturally fed soaking hot pools, plus the regular chlorinated swimming pool. We enjoyed two wonderful massages at a reasonable price. Towels are plentiful from the front desk. The resort's location is great for short and long beautiful hikes.

We brought our own food for our first dinner, but enjoyed one dinner and two breakfasts in the restaurant. A bit pricey but good quality, and someone has to truck food up the mountain to this lovely place. The coffee and lattes were great! An expensive snack bar is the only option for lunch - a good time to have packed in your own snacks.

All the staff were great. They faced challenges with humor. The snack bar cash register/ computer stopped functioning, making it impossible to pay by cash, charge or room charge. The front desk seems understaffed, and the check out process and computation of what's owed is amazingly complicated! Our one major complaint was that the king bed cabin we had booked was unavailable, which was disappointing because we had chosen the days of our stay based on it's availability. This may also have been a function of the antiquated computer system.

We will return.

I was not terribly happy with my experience. One pool was chained of and the other was completely crowded to the point of couldn't move. Nobody spoke English and I never missed chlorine so much. Actual swimming pool was freezing cold if it's geothermal heat why are they so stingy with temp. Only a few little kids who didn't know any better were in the pool. Other little wading 1 foot deep pool was packed too. I've been to many hot spring across the county this was the least pleasant. Smelled of sulfur to point I kept looking for sewage, a little is ok this was cloying. Just boring colors on tubs and pool to maybe a little color. Thank god it was not very expensive. Lodge and bathrooms were nice. http://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=E1UEDulwWkY cartman sums up my feeling in this song.

The little cabins are somewhat industrial strength, i.e. neither rustic nor architectural, but their beds are to die for. We had the most comfortable night of our whole week in the park. Besides, the restaurant serves enormous portions of quite edible food, and the pools, although crowded when we were there (the Friday before Memorial Day weekend) have delightfully healing waters. The 103 degree pool cured all my aches and pains and left me more flexible than I have been in months ( I am 72). Would go back there every week if I could. The over-worked staff are super friendly and go out of their way to make you feel at home. Wish it were cheaper, but if it was, it would be so popular we wouldn't have gotten a cabin!

Room Tip: we had cabin #125 is by the river. The cabins by the river are great, but also get a bit more road...

Wonderful two days in Sol Duc Hot Spring Resort, so relax. The room is clean; the staff is friendly. This is my first time staying in a cabin, and the place is quite isolated, so the kitchen is very helpful. I will definitely go again.

While we have been to Sol Duc Hot Springs many times, we have never stayed at the site, usually camping at a nearby campground. This visit we splurged and stayed 3 nights in one of the cabins, One feature we really appreciated was that our dog was allowed to stay in the cabin too, for a pet fee of just $25. It was a treat to be warm and dry and have all the comforts of home. We stayed in a cabin with a kitchen which was convenient. We did have 2 dinners at the lodge- good meals, large servings but pricey. We started planning our next visit back to Sol Duc as soon as we walked into the cozy cabin.

We found these by accident and really enjoyed being there. The kitchenette was awesome and we were able to buy breakfast goodies at the little general store at the resort. Clean, comfy rooms all with porch benches amidst the beautiful park. Staying overnight also got us in the hot mineral pools both the evening when we arrived and the morning before we left. Towels for the pools provided in the rooms.

Room Tip: They only had rooms at the front available, but it was still very quiet.
