“sol duc suite on the river poor maintenance but pretty”
Reviewed 17 June 2014

There are cabins at this resort, as well as a 3 bedroom suite, which is what we rented. First, the others with me would have rated this lower. Negatives were that the place was old and somewhat poorly maintained. It also could have been cleaner. The suite was over the storage unit for housekeeping, so there were constant people driving up and getting supplies. Ironically we had trouble getting a second roll of tp, and there was no dishwasher detergent (even for sale in the lodge). There were old bed springs and other trash around the property. There was a tv with dvd (no cable or satellite) and no dvds to rent or buy. No cell sevice btw. All this for 450 per nite. Beautiful area and great hiking, but dont pay for the suite. We cancelled early and went to the Crescent Beach Lodge, which was cheaper and much, much nicer...

This review pertains to the Sol Duc Hot Springs Resort Poolside Deli and not to the lodge in general. After hiking to the falls, we decided to stop for lunch at the lodge. Parking was plentiful so that was a positive. The guy taking our order was very friendly. When I asked if I need a number for our order he said "Oh no, it will only take 2 second". Well, that was the first red flag. What can you serve in 2 seconds? We quickly found out-- pre-prepared food. My husband and I had both ordered wraps and they were seriously awful. The tortilla on my wrap was so soggy it was like eating wet cardboard. My wrap was a vegetable wrap and contained some cooked veggies-- all of which were cooked at a much, much earlier time then wrapped in plastic wrap and allowed to sit around all day until we got there in the afternoon. Yuck. The pre-packaged salads looked a little better, but the hamburgers also looked pretty bad.

Love this place! We only spent one night here, but we thought it was very nice and comfortable. We loved the quiet setting and the hot springs were obviously the highlight of our stay. The only thing that would make this place better is to have the hot springs and pool to be open earlier in the morning and later in the evening.

We stayed at the cabins and they were clean comfortable and very charming. I think they had been recently updated. The weather was cool so the outdoor pool was cold to swim but the hot springs were great. LOVED our stay at Sol Duc and loved our time at Olympic National Park. The rain forest was amazing!!

Room Tip: We stayed at the cabins and loved them.

After a 9-mile backpacking trip on the Ozette Loop, we were really stoked for our Sol Duc Resort stay. We eased our weary bodies into the silky hot sulfur waters of one of the four pools (each a different temperature for every preference!). These are meticulously well-kept, cleaned frequently, and the ambiance of the poolside environment was lovely. They provide pool towels. The lodge restaurant offers a splendid menu. We greatly enjoyed salads with strawberries and spiced nuts, steaks with herb butter and fried onion strings adorning them, creamy mashed potatoes, and perfectly steam asparagus! The signature dessert, the marionberry crumble with ice cream, was hot and amazing! The beds and pillows are dreamy, and we slept well! The staff were all pleasant and personable, going the extra mile to assist, whether with a special dining request or additional shampoo for the shower, or explaining the history of the lodge (Sol Duc means Sparking Waters) in the local Indian dialect. We have wonderful memories of our stay and wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

Room Tip: The cabins afford good privacy and are spread around the resort property, so ask for a cabin close t...

We planned a night here as part of 4 days in Olympic National Park. I am so glad we did not miss this hidden treasure. I have stayed in cabins at several national parks. This one is up there among the best of the best! Room was clean, convenient, and the beds were very comfortable. The restaurant was very good and all the servers and workers at the resort were friendly and glad to help in anyway needed. Some were not very familiar with the area as the season is just beginning and they are here for summer. The hot springs were such a treat and I felt the dressing rooms were clean and much better than I had expected. There was one person checking the temperature etc of the pools constantly. They were very clean. They ranged from 106 to 98 degrees. The large freshwater pool was 70 and a bit cold for this time of year for swimming. We would definitely come again if we were in the area .

My husband and I spent two pleasant nights in a double cabin that was small but comfortable and clean. Not being experienced with hot springs, we were happy with the cleanliness and management of the 3 naturally fed soaking hot pools, plus the regular chlorinated swimming pool. We enjoyed two wonderful massages at a reasonable price. Towels are plentiful from the front desk. The resort's location is great for short and long beautiful hikes.

We brought our own food for our first dinner, but enjoyed one dinner and two breakfasts in the restaurant. A bit pricey but good quality, and someone has to truck food up the mountain to this lovely place. The coffee and lattes were great! An expensive snack bar is the only option for lunch - a good time to have packed in your own snacks.

All the staff were great. They faced challenges with humor. The snack bar cash register/ computer stopped functioning, making it impossible to pay by cash, charge or room charge. The front desk seems understaffed, and the check out process and computation of what's owed is amazingly complicated! Our one major complaint was that the king bed cabin we had booked was unavailable, which was disappointing because we had chosen the days of our stay based on it's availability. This may also have been a function of the antiquated computer system.

We will return.
