“Camping in style!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 October 2013

Along the long road between Grand Canyon and Zion there is a spot just outside of the Zion Nat'l Park. Its affordable camping, has clean showers, resort style pool, full services dining and all included in your camping fee. For additional cost there is zip lining, ATV riding, canyoneering trips and so much more.

It was safe, welcoming and a sight for sore eyes after not so delightful camping sites prior to this one!

Room Tip: I liked lot 17/18- right across from the pool but not immediately adjacent to hear all the hub bub.

Thanks for this kind review. We try very hard to match the outdoor national park experience that so many people are hoping for but rarely find. We are a ranch resort, which means our sidewalks are not lined with purple and yellow flowers, but our natural setting on a forested plateau does come with a lot of fun and great amenities.

My family and I drove a few miles from Ponderosa and walked 3 miles out to Observation Point which is said to be the greatest view in all of Utah. We were not disappointed as we took in the majesty of Zions from the point. I recommend the hike and review as a must see.

Our accommodations at the ranch were very comfortable and enjoyed the many family activities including the zip line, rock wall climbing, and even had a mini-golf tournament. The staff were friendly, easy to talk to, and made the trip even more memorable. I highly recommend the ranch as a fantastic getaway and breath of fresh air.

Just finished a two day stay here. The resort is comfortable and unpretentious with loads to do if you are so inclined. We loved the fact we could get into the park on the east side onto trails that were uncrowded and easy to locate with help from the staff. And without a doubt, the very best Greek salad we have ever had anywhere. Seriously! Location is good...a bit of a drive to heart of the park...about 40 minutes but who ever gets tired of seeing the east side of Zion?

We went here for our honeymoon for 3 nights and enjoyed it! They had plenty to do - zipline, four-wheeling to a canyon, jeep ride to see the sunset at the top of a mountain, and a restaurant with yummy American food for your convenience. We stayed in the Cabin Suite - with a bathroom and shower, but you can save money by staying in a cowboy cabin and use the designated shower/restrooms separate from the cabin. You can take time to see the National park while you're there. I'd recommend swimming in their pool with a natural-looking slide in the summer months - it's not heated. We also utilized their massage services and loved that too. We highly recommend! We'll be back!

We booked a Deluxe cabin and 10 ticket adventure package for 2 nights. It wasnt nearly enough! The cabins probaably could do with a bit of a freshen up. The sofa bed was the worst sofa bed I have ever been on in my life and it nearly ate me up! But the actual bed was comfortable and it was fun to stay in an old style log cabin. Everything was nice and clean.

The coffee macine didnt work when we arrived, but a new one was sent up in just a few minutes. There was a kitchenette and microwave, and some of the other cabins had a bbq. We just ate in tne restaurant, which had awesome selections for breakfast and dinner, and a yummy packed lunch. Their wine and beer selections were also pretty good, especially for Utah.

The grounds and view were just beautiful. I really wish we had planned to stay longer. Our whole family went on the zip line twice. Our 6 yo daughter was a bit scared to go the first time, but one she saw Mummy and Daddy have a go, she was ok. And couldnt wait to go a second time. I have to admit I was a bit scared at first too, never ha ving jdone anything like that, but staff were super professional and I knew we were all safe. What a rush!

After that mhubby and Miis 6 did climbing on their rockwalls and she also did bungee trampoline. She went on a 15 min hourse ride and we all went with hubby to do skeet shooting. He loved that, and it made me wish I'd had a go too.

The pool is fantastic. One of the most fun pools we experienced in our 5 week trip. A great place to relax or play. We didnt use the Day Spa while we were there , but they had discount vouchers and couples specials which looked good.

I wish there was a ranch resort experience like this near our home! I definately recommend it as a fun place for the whole family.

Room Tip: The deluxe cabins were very private.

We chose to have our wedding surrounded by the beauty of Zion National Park with all of us staying at the Ponderosa. Unfortunately our wedding was planned during the time that the park was shut down. The staff were very accommodating and offered us a variety of alternatives (thank you Erin). Frances and her kitchen staff were wonderful, when everything else seemed to fall through Frances was able to create amazing meal options, including a picnic lunch for 20 with everything included...followed by an elaborate evening reception. We had family and friends staying in the wagons, cowboy cabins, cabin suites, and a vacation home...everyone had a blast! We are looking forward to celebrating many anniversaries in Zion, at the Zion Ponderosa. We can not thank Frances, the kitchen crew, and the front desk ladies enough.

This is a great little getaway tucked in the mountains just outside of Zion National Park's east entrance. If you're looking to escape the crowds in Springdale, head up to Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort for true immersion in the high desert and total relaxation. It's a few miles north of the main road to Zion, but the drive is scenic and fun.

If you're camping, you'll love the cozy shaded campsites speckled throughout the grounds. I camped here for several weeks a couple years ago and never grew tired of this place. The air is fresh, the setting is peaceful, and the hot shower facilities are the best I've ever used at a campsite (and I've camped plenty). The showers are all completely private, spacious, clean, and no additional cost. There's even coin-op laundry with a view of the pool.

If you're looking for a more cushy stay, try the cabin suites. Just a few weeks ago, towards the end of a month-long road trip, we spent a weekend in one of these and they were more comfortable than all of our previous hotel rooms! The bed was so big and comfortable, the kitchenette was just right (stocked with free coffee and hot cocoa), and our living room (with pull-out couch) included cable TV and an adorable woodstove. We really loved this place!

The infinity pool with two jacuzzis (and free towels!) is a very welcome treat after a day spent hiking in the desert. The staff is friendly, the food is great (by a renowned onsite chef), and there are plenty of activities to keep you entertained for days and days. Horseback riding, anyone?

I'm looking forward to coming back here again and again. I consider it my base camp anytime I venture to Zion.

BONUS: Free wifi that worked really well! :-)
