We toured Phoenix, Vegas and the national parks, and of them all this was the one place we wished we had booked longer. The accommodation is a few minutes outside the park, so come the evening you will have to get back in your car to go back into the park - but why would would you want to? Zion has an amazing feel to it, and you feel much more "part of it" unlike some of the other national parks.
Zion Mountain Resort was idyllic. Lovely little lodges well finished with all the facilities you would expect to find in your home. The resort was very quiet when we visited, which suited us sitting out on the terrace glugging a bottle of wine. The staff were really helpful too, we had lost some cards, and the staff kindly let us use their phone to call back to the UK to organise replacements and wouldn't let us pay for the calls.

A perfect extended weekend getaway from city life. We stayed in the Buffalo Vista Bedroom Suite is exactly as advertised on the website but far better in person. The cabin was lovely, cozy, clean and spacious. The enormous jetted tub was fantastic! It certainly was a memorable Valentine's Day weekend. It was a beautiful Winter Wonderland - the blanket of snow on the rustic ranch was quite stunning. The scenic drive through the park is just absolutely amazing...the ranch is located just 5 minutes away from the park entrance. Great in the sense of being away from the commercialized lodging in the park. The first morning we had gone for a walk and was pleasantly surprised to be randomnly offered a ride from a welcoming person named Kevin (whom I think may own or supervise the property) who took us to the buffalo herd, and even contacted front desk to inquire about our scheduled horseback ride (which was cancelled due to weather, no big deal as it was very cold!).
Returning from a great hiking trail to a cozy cabin with roses from the staff and a $50 Valentine's Day dinner gift certificate for the Buffalo Grill was another pleasant surprise.
I highly recommend and would love to return. The cabin has all the amenities and I was even able to pick up wi-fi service (just ask the front desk for a the network key). Fyi however - there is no cell phone coverage in the area (even for Verizon users) and the cabin does not have a phone.
I would advise to bring food...the cabin does have a kitchenette complete w/ utensils, microwave, fridge and even a mini 2 range stove top. The Buffalo Grill is the only place to eat in the area (breakfast was good); a gift shop next door and a gas station and a bigger souvenir shop down the road. I would also suggest to bring a telescope! The view of the sunset from our cabin is quite a sight.
Also - bring dvd's (there is a dvd/VHS combo in both rooms). The gas fireplace heats up the place nice and quickly, there is also a heater in the bedroom.

Cute little cabins but too close together. Our biggest complaint was that our cabin was filthy! We complained and were offered another cabin, not quite as nice. It was filthy too. Staff believed us (or thought we were a pain) but would not come to look. I really think the housekeepers need glasses. We spent our "romantic getaway" cleaning up our cabin since the resort would not refund our money. I would not go back unless the resort changed hands and hired a new housekeeping staff.

We chose to stay at Zion Mountain Resort after months of research as we wanted our honeymoon to be perfect. We were not disappointed with our choice of accommodation whilst visiting Zion.
We were there in January for 5 nights and it was very peaceful. The friendly staff informed us only a handful of the cabins were occupied. The whole area was covered in snow and it looked spectacular. The sunsets were amazing and it was lovely to sit and eat breakfast overlooking the buffalo in the fields of snow.

We were upgraded to the honeymoon suite and the cabin itself couldn't have been nicer. Decorated in a very traditional style in keeping with the whole experience of staying at a ranch, but very clean with wonderful toiletries and everything you needed by way of coffee making facilities, fridge, microwave.

The food in the restaurant was lovely, both breakfast and evening meals, the only down side was the evening menu was quite limited and because of the time of year we didn't have a huge choice of places to eat.

All in all, it was definately the best part of our honeymoon and an amazing place to stay. We would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful, relaxing and inspiring holiday. We look forward to returning one day.

We stayed in a Buffalo Vista Honeymoon Suite for 4 nights in mid-October. All in all it was a wonderful trip.

I'd booked this vacation about 4 months ago after doing extensive research, and we were pleased with our choice. Is it a true "resort" - no. They'd likely manage expectations a little better by calling it Ranch vs. Resort. The cabins are great. We didn't have any problem at all with the cleanliness issues noted in previous reviews, although I should note that one of the registration staff made mention that they'd just let one of their maintenance staff go the night before we checked in. Perhaps that was related to some of the issues?

The cabin was clean, spacious and comfortable - except for the bed. A little too firm and low for our tastes. We prefer a fuller, softer mattress. But to each their own. The cabin was equipped with a coffee maker, microwave, and fridge. What would have been nice (but, we admit, not necessary) to have had real glasses for guests bringing wine (it *is* the honeymoon suite after all, :p) vs. plastic cups, and to have some paper plates/napkins/silverware on hand. We'd planned ahead and picked these up at a dollar store before arriving, just in case.

The view from our porch was lovely - we saw the buffalo herd come and go. We also witnessed a lovely sunset one evening. Our last night was a special treat, actually. After sunset we had no less than 20 deer run by our "back yard" on the way to a little pond set in the distance. It was quite an experience!

The Restaurant -- we give it a cautious thumbs-up. I know the reviews here have been mixed, and it gave us pause before going in there. We only went one night - our first night there - and it was after 8 hours of travel (4 hr flight to Vegas plus a 4 hr drive). By the time we got to the restaurant we were very tired and not that hungry. The dinner menu didn't have many lighter choices so we shared some appetizers - buffalo chili, chicken vegetable soup, sweet potato fries and chicken quesadillas. All but the fries were delicious. They don't sell wine by the glass here, which was a bit disappointing, but they will cork any bottle you buy so you can bring it back to your cabin. Worked for us.

Service - it was okay. We appreciated the opportunity to use a guest computer free of charge in the store area (request 15 minute maximum) as well as the house phone to make long distance calls (we had NO cell coverage at all, and there are no phones in the room). By and large we found the staff okay - not the most warm or welcoming, but also not what I'd call rude or unfriendly.

We'd stay here again. We liked that it was close to Zion but away from the tourist crowds in Springdale.

  • Liked — Privacy (no shared walls), porch, scenic views, wildlife, room amenities
  • Disliked — Bed too firm/low for us, room didn't have a couch/loveseat - only seating area in cabin was bed or dinette

After reading wonderful reviews of the Zion Mountain Resort, I was expecting a perfect stay. We were a bit disappointed. The cabins are adorable with front porch swings that are relaxing in the evening and early morning. Cleanliness was our main issue. The floors were filthy, dusty, food crumbs all around the table area and black boot prints throughout. The wood floors looked as though they hadn't been cleaned in a week. My husband went to make coffee in the morning and found old coffee in the pot. Upon check out I informed the registration person on duty and said they would check it out. No apology. Upon leaving we observed three young men going into cabins to clean....there might lay the problem. Hopefully management will get these problems resolved...the "resort" is a unique experience for this beautiful area.

We were greeted by a cranky faced red head...All the things that make a resort were not available and a well hidden secret...

Horseback riding....the mean redhead told us to go to Ponderosa Pines...
Massage...Are you out of your mind...Maybe with porcupine quills...

The cabins are comfortable and cute...Food at the grill, very good...

Hospitality and helpfulness....absolutely NOT! I like a little love when I hand over my hard earned money, not a mean faced person with any color hair...MEAN! Bummed out for the buck...Kathy Tilley
