Owner description: This one-mile hiking trail starts just outside the east entrance to the Zion-Mt Carmel Tunnel, and leads to a dramatic observation point that provides impressive views of Zion's rugged landscape.

You have to drive up Rt 9 through the tunnel to get to the trail head just on the other side of the tunnel. The drive to the tunnel is incredible with multiple switchbacks and virtually no guard rail (just tire height rocks). We did the hike early in the morning (about an hour after sunrise) and were two of four people on the trail that early. There are a few semi-scary drops and a wooden bridge. The view at the top was outstanding. We explored the area and found several great viewing spots. This is not a strenuous hike, but people that are scared of heights may be bothered by a few spots.

If you can do only one hike in the park, make it this one! The trail can be mildly challenging, but it's worth it! There are parts of the trail you'd swear were from a movie set, just very cool all the way and then a spectacular view at the end. Be sure and give your singing voice a try mid trail with the echos off the rock faces. Good fun!

We really enjoyed this hike a lot!!

Overall we spent about an hour doing the roundtrip hike and spending time enjoying the overlook view. It's not too long or hard for anyone to do and there are only a few points where there are drop offs on the side of the trail.

It's also not very strenuous as my 4 month pregnant wife had no issues with the hike.

This is probably a good hike for beginners at it gets you used to climbing up a bit and you get more comfortable with your surroundings and the steep drop offs, without being too dangerous or extreme.

This is a worthwhile hike for anyone.

Parking really sucks for this one though. We missed the small lot just as you are coming out of the tunnels and we drove for probably about 10 minutes before turning around and finding it. There looks to be only enough spots for about 10 cars so this one can be tricky in busy seasons.

My husband and I did this hike and I tell you it is awesome. It is a very easy climb up the mountain. It is very much worth the hike. Once you reach the end point it is breathtaking to see the view from there. There are some areas where there aren't any rails. But it is safe to hike and lots of fun getting to the top and enjoying all the rock formations along the way.

This was the first trail we went to when we visited Zion National Park. The trail has some ups and downs on a rocky surface, but is an easy walk even for kids. There are little chipmunks running around all over the place and that was really cool to see. Remember you can't feed them no matter how cute they are. The trail ends with a beautiful view of the canyon. It is located on the east side of Zion, and parking is a little weird, but it's totally worth the trip.
