My friends and I did this hike late in the day after arriving at Zion. It is a nice short hike with an amazing view of the canyon at the top. We spend quite a bit of time at the top just taking in the view. It wasn't very crowded either, which was nice, and there are many places to take photos other than the fenced off area of the viewpoint if you feel comfortable getting closer to the edge. A must do hike!

Beautiful drive, no crazy traffic for us! Keep your eyes peeled for mountain sheep, and stop to do the view point trails.

Had a little bit for almost everyone- Beautiful sunset (at the right time of day) wild life (mountain goats just hanging out, a few twists and turns ... very well worth the time to get there! Limited parking.. no bathrooms just before you get to the tunnel heading west towards Zions. Maybe an hour tops round trip.

Did this on my way out unexpectedly. Was glad I didn't miss this because I hadn't thought of doing this. Good views. Easy hike and more importantly away from the crowds since it is outside the main attractions. If you looking for something to do after Narrows and Angels landing I would highly recommend this over any other trails.

Okay, so this is a great trail to get an aerial view over Zion. It's fairly easy, good underfoot and for a relatively small time investment has a good payoff at the end! The view does not really look over the main Zion Canyon, ie where the Virgin River runs, it overlooks the main road that leads to the (restricted) road into the canyon, which then swings round to Springdale. You need to go to Observation Point for the best aerial view of the main canyon, but that is a significant undertaking(!!)

The entrance to the trail is very close to the road tunnel through the mountain (IIRC the second one if coming from Bryce). The main problem with this trail is the very limited parking. There are just a few spaces on either side of the road. You have to get lucky or go early to find a space, it isn't really possible to hang around and wait. If you miss the parking spot you'll have a bit of a drive before it's possible to turn around and head back.
