We are a middle age American couple who are frequent travelers and we can highly recommend this small bungalow village. Owners Sylvie and Daniel are a transplanted French couple who live on site and are perfect hosts. (As a bonus for visiting Americans, Daniel speaks English, which is often not the case in Guadeloupe.)
The bungalows are clean, charming, and have all of the basic amenities. The mattress is comfortable and with good mosquito netting, a ceiling fan, and being high enough up the hill that you get good breezes, you don't really miss not having AC. The open porches offer privacy while still having nice views. The property is located a good ways up the hill from the village, which makes for a perfect combination of peace and tranquility in the evenings, but still just a few minutes drive to two large supermarkets and local fruit and seafood stores. The location about halfway down the island is perfect for exploring farther afield, but is especially good for divers who want to focus on the nearby marine diving sanctuary.
Bottom line: if you are looking for a luxury resort and long white beaches, then this isn't the place for you (and indeed, the relatively unspoiled but less developed Base Terra island probably isn't for you). But if you are a diver or hiker looking for a clean, comfortable and affordable base, you will not go wrong here.
