“spectacular views but dont use rip off car park!”

Hartland Point Lighthouse
Ranked #3 of 6 things to do in Hartland

Hartland point is well worh a visit for its magnificent views of its coastline and out to lundy. you cannot visit the lighthouse sadly but you can get a good view of it via the coastal footpath and it is pretty amazing! One thing to be aware of is the fact that you will get charged a hefty £2 if you wish to use the car park (which is just rough ground and should be free). Far better to walk out to Hartland point via the coast path from the FREE National Trust car park a mile down the road and the £2 you save will buy you two mugs of coffee at the refreshment hut at Hartland point.

Beware also of the toll road at Hartland quay where another £2 charge exists merely to drive down to the quay. Hartland itself has a free car park and is well worth a visit. Nearby Clovelly is another rip off place for charging as you pay £6 just to enter the village!! - Again however, if you enter via the coastal footpath you can avoid the rip off charge!

Recently visited this lighthouse due to a navigation error by the other half - local farmer had constructed a hut and charged £2 to drive over his short piece of land to view the lighthouse. The Coastguard have closed the route because of erosion - the farmer neglected to tell us until we had paid and parked.
Not worth the effort!!!!!!

Just what you need after a breathless hike up and down the SW coastal footpath. Smiley service and yummy sandwiches!

Go to Hartland Point and enjoy the views. This comprises part of the South West Path. If you want to park there is a £2 fee, otherwise park at East Titchberry and walk the coastal path to the lighthouse. There is a great tearoom - outside seating only - which is good value for lunch or tea. A ploughman's is £5, a pot of tea £1.20, soup & bread £3. Always fresh food.

We stopped by with our friends following a walk around the Hartland Point. What a refreshhing friendly attitude from all the staff - even offering to take our group photo.
The cream teas were lovely and I had a Bacon and Brie Pannini - the best I had ever tasted.
We would highly recommend this little cafe who offer a good range of freshly produced food despite the remote location.
This is their first year so go and give them a try so they will come back next year.
The views are stunning and you can be sure of a great welcome.
There is a £2.00 Car Park Fee charged by the farmer to park but it is more than worth it.
There is some easy local walking and for those with more energy some moderate to hard walking further afield. If you choose the latter then you will need the Cafe no doubt.
