“Keep it a secret please!”
Reviewed 4 March 2016 for a stay in February 2016

I am very loath to write this review as I'd really like to keep this place to myself but feel that would be selfish so here you are! I booked Berry House for my 60th birthday which I wanted to spend with my extended family, all 18 of us, I simply could not have chosen a more perfect place. From the winding lanes getting there, the warm welcome, the flowers, the lights on and the discovery of the delights of the house as we ran around opening doors to all the rooms like over excited kids, I knew I had booked an absolute gem.
Berry House has been sympathetically restored to create a beautifully comfortable and homely place that is both fantastically grand yet at the same time, cosy, comfortable and like being wrapped in a cashmere shawl!
I could write a whole essay on its attributes, suffice to say, I could not have booked a more perfect place to spend a long weekend with my family, ranging in age from 18 months to 86 years. We played endless ball games in the barn, watched the rugby all snuggled up on the huge sofa in the tv room, ate enormous meals in the magnificent dining room, sang, danced and read the papers in the drawing room, slept blissfully in our cosy beds, walked miles straight out of the house to the coast in every direction, had a fly past every day from the resident barn owl (what a thrill that was), were thrilled when ALL the Sunday papers arrived unannounced and wished we could stay for the week, or better still, move in permanently!
I know the weekend was a huge success by the wonderful letters I've received from my family so a heartfelt thanks to all those who have made Berry House the beautiful place it is - and that was after a weekend in February so what it's like at more clement times of the year I can only imagine!

Thank you for generously sharing, I know the feeling when you find a gem!! Your party sounds a rip-roaring success for all of your group and we're so pleased you enjoyed all that Berry has to offer.
The house was so beautifully set up by the owner and Monique, the housekeeper and her team are very dedicated to making it warm, welcoming and full of the little touches that make a big difference. We'd love to welcome you back to stay again, perhaps to enjoy it in the summer!
With best wishes, Anthony.

“Fantastic big house!”
Reviewed 21 February 2016 for a stay in December 2015

We had a brilliant time at Berry House over New Year, celebrating a 50th wedding anniversary and an 18th birthday so a wide range of ages! The weather was changeable but the house is big enough for 24 people to be together or not, depending on the mood. Comfy beds, lots of bathrooms and lovely decor - couldn't ask for anymore. The coastal walks are stunning and there is such a lot to explore in the surrounding area. We were welcomed and shown around the property by lovely people and we were sad to leave! 4 stars instead of 5 as the oven was not good enough to cook for 24 without a lot of stress so please could you think about changing before we visit again?!!

It's certainly a great house, come rain, shine or force 10 gale and I'm really pleased you loved the design and layout of it. A deliciously comfortable bed is a must for a great weekend away too!
So sorry the oven didn't live up to your expectations, we are raising that with the owner and really appreciate your feedback on it.
With best wishes, Peter.

“Perfect Birthday”
Reviewed 7 February 2016 for a stay in January 2016

We arrived in terrible weather but the house was so beautiful, warm and welcoming that we immediately felt relaxed and at home. The housekeepers couldn't have been nicer. Nothing was too much trouble. Everything was spotlessly clean and every room a picture. The bedrooms are all so lovely that everyone was more than happy.
The weather cleared on Saturday to reveal breathtaking views of Stoke church, the coast and surrounding countryside. Some of us did coastal walks from the house, others went to nearby Spekes Mill and Hartland Quay. The children (and some adults/big kids) loved playing football in the huge games barn.
We had a meal delivered to the house in the evening for our party. The caterers were extremely friendly and helpful and the food was excellent.
The house was even better than the beautiful images on the website.
We were all sad to leave on Sunday and are already talking about returning in the near future.
Well done to everyone who works so hard to make Berry such a wonderful place.

Thank you for such a great review. Monique and her team do take real pride in Berry House. That, coupled with having an architect/owner who did a stylish renovation of the house make it a winning combination. We're so pleased you had a thoroughly wonderful weekend and we'd love to welcome you back to Berry or any of our houses. With best wishes, Peter & the team.

I visited Berry House with friends last weekend for a friend's 'special' birthday celebrations. Berry House is situated within a very short walk to a spectacular coastal landscape and a very quaint village.
The house itself is a fabulous Georgian retreat. It has been restored to a very high standard and still retains many of its Georgian features to include wood panelling and flag stoned floors.
The house is spacious with large bedroomrooms and more bathrooms than you can shake a stick at. The living accommodation is also very spacious, yet warm and cosie with open fires and opulent furnishings.
The Big House company were very accommodating, They arranged caterers to come to the house to cook our celebration dinner, so we didn't need to lift a finger. The food was excellent. They looked after us very well.
Overall, 10/10. Wonderfull weekend. I want tot do it again!!!!

We met up with friends for a weekend to celebrate a 50th birthday. Wow, what a beautiful house in a stunning location - amazing views all round. Every room is tastefully decorated and furnished to a high standard. Very warm and cosy. Enjoyed lovely walks from the house and appreciated the Badminton, table tennis and pool table when the stormy weather closed in. Thoroughly recommended.
