“Pleasantly surprised”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 January 2014

Leofoo Village in Hinchu, Taiwan, is easily access from Taipei, just get off Jingan subway station ( one exit only) and turn left as you exit, you will see a colorful decorated Leofoo shuttle bus , board it, after 1 hour you will be at the themepark but around 30 minutes into the ride, the. Bus will stop at Longtan station where you get down at the pitstop go to an office to pay for your bus fare which can be one way or round trip cost sound $260nt, you can also purchase your themepark tickets here. But I for mine for less that the listed price of $ 900++, you can buy your thempark tickets at a 7-11 I-Bon machine which costs only $650.
Themepark set up will remind you of Tokyo Disneysea but on a smaller scale, park facilities are clean and well maintained. Rides are not for thrill seekers but gives enough excitement for risk averse people. No 3d or 4d theaters here. Food taste is okay but menus are more on the fried and oily side. Monkey Trail monorail ride was fun but was not able to ride the Nairobi Express which is recommended by forumers because it was under maintainance when we were there Dec 29, do not know if it was because of the very cold weather and all the animals are hiding in their sheds/ caves.

“Not for thrill seekers”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 December 2013

Leofoo Village Theme Park is definitely not worth going for one seeking thrilling rides. The only notable one is the Screaming Condor. The other rides in the theme park are not half as exciting, mainly those that tend to make one dizzy. I think Leofoo Village Theme Park is more suitable for families with young children, it's more of half theme park half zoo, so it's a good experience for a family.

I would advise against going to Leofoo Village Theme Park during Winter season though (December). The park is severely understaffed, not many stalls are open and even the rides need a cooldown time of 10-15 minutes after each run. Felt like I was in an empty theme park half the time. It isn't very accessible for one staying in Taipei city area as well, not worth the 90 minute bus ride to and fro.

“Great day out of Taipei with the children!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 December 2013

The Leofoo Village Theme Park is one of Taiwan's most popular theme parks. Situated about an hour away from Taipei, it's a great place where the young and young at heart can spend an entire day going absolutely wild with delight. The theme park is divided into 4 distinct zones : Wild West, South Pacific, Arabian Kingdom and African Safari, each with their own unique characteristic. Those who love animals should start at the African Safari where you can get see many interesting animals up close. You can even buy food pellets to feed the free roaming goats. We took the Nairobi Express and sky bicycle to see the raw beauty of the wild animals at close range. Thrill seekers can try the Ring of Fire, Screaming Condor and the Old Oil Well. The G-force throwing you up is enormous!. Fortunately, we went in Nov when the weather was a little cold, so there wasn't much of a crowd, and we were able take some of our favourite rides over and over again. Works both ways though, as the lack of crowds made the mood a little damp. However, all in, it was a great day out of Taipei.

“great family fun”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 December 2013

Daughter's 9 year old and a certified scaredy cat. But she had great fun at Leo Foo and ended up going on most of the rides. The park is well maintained, with variety of rides and restaurants and snack carts. The animals were added bonus as well.

There's definitely elements of imitation compared to the likes of Disney and the San Diego Wild Animal Park (aka mascots "Happy and Honey" and a parade down an American style street as well as the "Nairobi Express"). And while Leo Foo pale in comparison, it can stand on its own two feet and pull off a whole day of good wholesome family fun.

Those looking for the tallest or the fastest or the most adrenaline pumping rides will be sorely disappointed. Those looking for a well kept amusement park that will provide a whole day of fun for the family with an added bonus of a decent zoo will be in for a treat.

FYI, we took the taxi from Zhubei 竹北 to Leo Foo. The going rate is NT$600 each way off the meter. For those coming from Hsinchu you'll probably be looking at NT$800. Not sure if this is an ongoing special, but our daughter was able to get in for free by visiting on the month of her b-day.

“Great Theme Park - Rides & Animals”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 November 2013

It's a great theme park with rides for all ages and animals (a zoo and safari). It worth the visit as fun and time well spent for a whole day. Children can feed the animals (e.g. goats) and taking pony rides, taking train and bus in the safari is really fun. Now I could understand why the entrance fees is expensive as compared to other attractions in Taiwan.
