We explored this beautiful area from Fort Pickens to Navarre Beach. The beaches were beautiful white sand. We found some wonderful picnic spots as well!

The pure white sands along the whole beach are so protected that even the color of the waves is a clear azure. The fort on the end of the island was unexpected and fascinating. The number of bricks, how it was partially destroyed, and it's link to the civil war is really interesting.

I stayed for 1-week in Dec 2013. As expected had some rain showers but nothing too heavy. What was heavy were the winds which blew 15-mph frequently with gusts to 30-mph. If you are a tent camper (I am), be prepared for the weather.

Other than the winds, Dec was perfect. Very few crowds. Bathrooms were cleaned everyday. The campsites were only of fair size, but that's about the only complaint which wasn't really bad at all.

This is one of the prettier camping destinations if you like the ocean. Best sand I've ever seen. I recommend visiting and camping at the national park.

The beaches are beautiful. If you go east out of Pensacola the beaches are a great place to see the sunset without a bunch of buildings in the view.

One afternoon we drove the stretch from Pensacola Beach to Navarre, stopping at one of the parking lots and going out to the AMAZING white sand beach. It was cloudy day but still T-shirt weather, at least to us northerners! We had the entire beach to ourselves. It was so relaxing just to wade in the waves, sit in the sand, and listen to the Gulf. You have to just get out of town for a little while and enjoy the solitude!
