Shirley and Godfrey are SO friendly - wonderful hosts - lovely, comfortable room (number 5) over-looking the water. This was a real home from home - no restrictions and the breakfasts were better! If they aren't full when we need them, we'll hopefully be staying in the future whenever we are viisiting our family nearby. Many thanks Shirley and Godfrey.

Room Tip: see the sea from number 5

Just stayed at the Maples Hotel before cruising out of Southampton. What a find Shirley and Godfrey's hospitality is wonderful, they make you feel like family not guests. Marvellous breakfast and beautiful accommodation, we even saw our cruise ship sail into Southampton from the very comfortable "Nottingham" room. Really great place, will defiantly stay again.

You will not be disappointed if you stay at The Maples Hotel. Shirley and Godfrey are fabulous hosts. Their genuine concern for your satisfaction is outstanding. When we checked in to our room for the night it was late afternoon and Shirley made us a lovely pot of tea. Shirley served us tea and cookies in our room. It was so tasty and it felt really nice to be looked after in such a way.

The breakfast was a traditional English style full breakfast. The fruit was fresh, coffee was great and the eggs and ham were good.

All in all this hotel is the best. Shirley and Godfrey are top notch people. What a delight it was to meet them and stay at their B&B.

I felt welcome even as I telephoned to enquire about availability. I hadn’t read or been influenced by any other reviews so I was even more delighted upon my arrival to be greeted almost as an old friend. My room was immaculately clean and the bed unbelievably comfortable. One word of warning though – for those watching the calories, the breakfast is so delicious your diet will just have to wait! Well done Shirley and Godfrey

I stay in hotels two or three nights a week but very few offer such a warm welcome and truly splendid breakfast. The blueberries and raspberries were the best I have tasted in years. Keep up the great work and enjoy your holiday!

This is a fantastic little hotel close to all the amenities in Hythe.I had requested an earlier check in as we were arriving from London for a friend's wedding and the room was ready for us on arrival.Godfrey was a delight so welcoming with a great sense of humour and showed us straight to our room. The en suite room No 5 was excellent ,lovely comfortable bed,tea and coffee making facilities, very clean and a big bonus free wifi..We had an early start in the morning and came downstairs to a welcoming hug from the delightful smiley Shirley who was disappointed that we did not have time to stay for breakfast .. what temptation next time Shirley it smelt delicious !!I would recommend highly recommend this hotel where you are treated as a member of the family rather than a paying guest ....keep up the good work Shirley and Godfrey you are the best..mimi and brian

I read in previous reviews that you were treated like family at this hotel. This is certainly true and nothing seems too much trouble for Shirley and Godfrey. My daughter and I had 2 single rooms and in theory shared a bathroom but we never encountered anyone else wanting to use the facilities. While the rooms were small, they were cosy, clean and comfortable and Charlotte, the housekeeper was most obliging.
We did not really do justice to the 13 types of cereal, 8 types of fruit and the massive cooked breakfast on offer.
The comfort and service was so good, that I will even forgive Godfrey for calling me Mumsie.

Room Tip: The singles are shared facilities but other types of room have en suites
