“Lovely views - would recommend”
Reviewed 26 September 2013

My husband and I stayed on a Saturday night for his birthday. We had room 7, which has a small balcony -big enough for two chairs - nice to sit in the evening with a glass or two of wine and which the boats go by. Views over marina and the Solent were lovely.

The room was very clean and nicely decorated. Not a huge room, but plenty large enough for two staying a night or two.

The bar was busy with a nice atmosphere. We didn't eat in the restaurant so can't comment there.

Word of warning, in the vicinity there is only the restaurant in the hotel and an Italian restaurant opposite. We ate in the Italian which was very busy and food was lovely (but the wait between courses was long).

My only gripe is that this hotel is not cheap (especially whilst The Southampton Boat Show is on) and I would have thought that for the money it would have included a full English breakfast. It doesn't. That is available at an extra cost. Continental buffet is included though.

Not sure we would stay here again, not that it wasn't nice, but there are too many other places to try.

Room Tip: Room 7 has a balcony big enough for two chairs. Lovely views over the marina and The Solent.

We stayed two nights. Reception is at the bar which is fine if the bar isn't busy (on day 2 there was a large reception on following a funeral and accessing the bar was difficult). The rooms are fine, very clean. The walls are extremely thin, we were in Room 6 and it sounded as though the people in the next room were in ours! The staff are excellent, helpful and cheerful. The ride from Hythe to Southampton on the ferry is a treat.

What can I say ... This was a totally enjoyable stay. Spotless restaurant area, views of the marina and by far one of the best breakfasts ever. The room was clean, beautifully decorated and colour coordinated towards relaxation. Room 7 had a small balcony through a pair of french windows ... Plenty of room to sit, share a bottle of wine and watch the boats, people and world go by! I would love to go back but in the meantime, I thoroughly thoroughly recommend this hotel for long r short break. Central for Hyde... 30 minute drive to Southampton or take the little jetty train to the passenger boat to Southampton in 10 minutes.

Room Tip: Room 7 is smallish but lovely ... Plenty big enough for two of you. Restaurant is closed Sunday so...

I haven't yet had the pleasure of staying at the Boathouse hotel, but as a restaurant, this place is superb! The staff are friendly and pleasant and the food was extremely yummy. Even though we booked for a Tuesday night meal at 7:45, you wouldn't expect it to be too busy, but the restaurant was busy and the atmosphere was buzzing- a very enjoyable experience. Although there were only 2 staff running the restaurant, the service was impeccable, swift and the staff are very friendly! I had the scallops to start, which were some of the best scallops I've ever had! Followed by a perfectly cooked rib-eye steak, which I couldn't fault. All of the food, drink and service was of impeccable quality, and it's by far the nicest/ most upmarket place to eat in Hythe. The food is reasonably priced, and for a meal for 2 with 3 courses it was just under £80 with wine.

My one and only suggestion is that a dimmer should be installed and the lights turned down a little during service, simply because it will make the place feel even more relaxed.

A lovely little boutique hotel/ restaurant. Definitely give it a go! :)

I don't like driving too far to a restaurant but it seemed like we always did to get a view. I hadn't been to the Boathouse for years so I thought it was time to check it out. Well how silly are we? This place ticks all the boxes. The decor is lovely and has a real quality about it. They seem to be one of the few restaurants that understand that everyone wants to look at the view not just half the table! They have positioned their seating for everyone - inspired! The menu is great and varied as is the wine list. The decking is undercover which enables you to sit outside in the rain which is great . They are exceedingly friendly and the service is excellent. Not sure I should put this great review you might pinch my table!

We were delighted to be introduced to this lovely restaurant. The décor is pleasing and tables laid out well in an inviting fashion. We had a delightful lunch chosen from a well balanced menu, even the vegetarian in the party was satisfied, the service was friendly and the food was very good. Tables are well spaced and you are not on top of your neighbours. The tables are end-on towards the window so just by a turn of the head everyone can look out over the Marina. We live locally and will definitely make further visits.

Could not be in a better location! Had the only family room in the hotel, and i can honestly say it was the best hotel and room i have ever stayed in. The rooms are impeccably clean, modern and spacious with gorgeous views over the marina. Great location in terms of distance to the centre of Hythe where you can catch a ferry to Southampton which is very convenient. The staff were incredible helpful and friendly and the food in the restaurant downstairs was delicious. Would recommend a short break here to anyone, 5 star!

Room Tip: all rooms are excellent.
