“Brilliant quiet site with excellent wardens”
Reviewed 28 May 2013

Stayed here for the late may bank holiday and as usual a friendly welcome from Lynne and Steve the site wardens. Facilities are immaculate, the restaurant was up to the usual good standard especially the Sunday lunch. Just 10 minute walk away is the golf club which has a 4 lane 10 pin bowling alley so we paid it a visit and will make use of it again. The fishing lake is also good place to while the time away. We will definitely be back later this year. Would definitely recommend this site

We have just got home from being on this site for the weekend.

The site its self is immaculate, peaceful and pretty. All the super service pitch extras you expect. Pitches are all newley gravelled so its so easy to get the van level.

We dined both Friday and Saturday evenings at the resturant hosted by Sebastian and his team.

We enjoy good food, we would have to say they got top marks on all the courses and the hosts were delightful.
Not too in your face or interfering just right. The dress code is casual which is what you want when caravaning, but you wouldn't feel out of place if you dressed up either.

Beautiful big barn with intimate tables and not too close to other diners.

For us we work all week so to have a good resturant on site was a bonus, as we haven't found elsewhere as yet to this standard. It makes a welcome change to not to have to drive into a town for dinner, which makes it a treat for us both to be able to have a drink or two.

We will be going back for sure.

Room Tip: Any of the hardstanding pitches would be fine, hill top grass pitches have a fab view over the valle...

I found this site through the Caravan Club where it is listed as an associated site. However on arrival I was told that the site is no longer associated with the Caravan Club but that this decision had been made by the owner after the Caravan Clubs site guide for 2013 had gone to press. For the balance of this year they will give Caravan Club members a £1 discount on site fees per night , so I paid £24 per night instead of £25 for a fully serviced pitch. The amenities are of a high standard. Unusually the shower cubicles are large "wet room" style containing a shower toilet and handbasin, disappointingly for me I found the water for the shower was rather lukewarm and no adjustment is available. There is a beautiful barn on site which has a restaurant and bar but from my viewpoint I thought the menu was rather upmarket and expensive for a Caravan site and I did not use it.

We are new to touring and found this site through Tranquil Touring Parks. This is a perfect site for a weekend 'get away'. Easily accessible by major roads but once there it's peace and tranquility all the way. The site is well laid out and maintained to an excellent standard. All pitches are fully serviced and the on-site shop has all the accessories we needed as we're new to this. The facilities are spotless and luxurious.

You can visit the pretty town of St Ives (4 miles away) for a stroll around the shops or a light lunch at the riverside tearooms. We walked with our dog from the site to St Ives and returned by bus ~ very convenient. We were recommended to visit Ely (25 mins by car) by the helpful warden. Again a lovely town and the cathedral is well worth an hour or two of your time.

Warm welcome at the on-site restaurant too. This is almost too convenient. The Barn is only open Thursday to Sunday at the moment but that suited our weekend trip fine. Food was delicious, service was good and the atmosphere lovely. We were also made very welcome outside of restaurant hours when we just popped in for a coffee. Would recommend this site to our friends.

i decided to have a camping weekend away for my birthday in january so me and a friend booked up at stroud hill park and all i can say is what an fantastic place.
obviously as it was the middle of jan there werent many other people staying there but right from the moment we arrived we were looked after.
the wardens were fantastic and a big hands up to marcello who runs the bar and restaurant. even though it was quiet and he wasnt really open we were always able to get a drink and some conversation there. also one night we had a meal there and when i comes to food the restaurant was amazing and not too badly priced either.
we also decided to do some fishing as the site has quite a big lake and even though half of it was frozen over we still managed to catch two fish in the few hours we were up there.
all in all was an absolutely fantastic way to spend a weekend.
i would return there any time

Just returned from a first time visit to this adult only site (found it through Tranquil Touring Parks). What a pleasure our stay was. The site is quiet and peaceful and beautifully maintained. Summer wardens, Steve and Lynne, could not have been more helpful. Majority of pitches are generously sized hardstandings surrounded by grass and mature flowerbeds for privacy. Loos are luxurious and well maintained. All in all you get what you pay for ~ we will return soon.

The site is good. Not a lot of things to do in the area. The shower blocks were ok, but not many of them and wasn't particularly impressed with the 'all in one' e.g. toilet, basin and shower in one cubicle. However they were clean. However the gem of this site is the onsite restaurant. It's one of the highest quality restaurants I've been to in ages. The staff and the chef had all worked in high class restaurants. The food and service were superb. The building is gorgeous.

Room Tip: Some pitches are difficult to get onto with a caravan unless you have a motor mover.
