“Warm, friendly, clean and comfortable, lovely rooms .. don't miss out.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 March 2011

The village is very quiet and has a craft centre, a convenience shop, a beautiful church and a pub. If you want to slip into true rural England it is for you.

The owners of Crosskeys are calming, hospitable and the rooms are clean and more than adequate. There is great attention to detail, weather reports and many other surprises. There is a very unassuming resident dog, which is of no consequence and in spite of being allergic to animals didn't trouble me in the slightest.

A lovely experience and thank you to the owners.

I chose CrossKeys House because they were on The Wild Garlic's restaurant site - the place where I had booked to go for my boyfriends birthday. The hosts could not have been more helpful or welcoming. After booking they arranged our taxis from Crewkerne station and to the restaurant that evening. At the end of our two night stay they even gave us a lift to the station. They were friendly and chatty and have an adorable little dog - Archie :0)

Our room (The Blue Room) was lovely and full of character. It had a huge sumptious bed, TV with a number of channels and a clean bathroom with plenty of shampoo etc.

Breakfast is served up until 9.45 - you choose what you want the day before. On the first day I had poached haddock and egg which was very nice, day two scrambled egg and salmon and there was plenty of it! There are plenty of books in the dining room to peruse through. It was a really nice touch to see our names printed on the napkin rings.

The house is in a beautiful little village, it's about a two and half mile walk to Beaminster and you can enjoy the country walk rather than the main road. There isn't really anything to 'do' in Broadwindsor so you will need to eat your dinner elsewhere.

All in all, a very nice place to stay if you want to just have a weekend away.

In many years of travelling around the country, I can honestly say this is one of the best (If not the best) B+B I have stayed in. Lovely hosts, comfortable bedrooms, large en-suite all in a delightfully furnished house. Breakfast is delicious...salmon & scrambled eggs even! Highly recommended.

When we arrives, Liz picked up our heaviest t bag and led us to our room. At breakfast the next morning, Robin served while Liz cooked, and the combination was superb. Not only were the locally sourced items on the menu delicious, but Robin's suggestions, maps, and even the latest weather forecast were invaluable to us as walkers.
The room had all the extras, including a very comfortable bed, delicious locally baked cookies which I looked forward to each night, and a small fridge stocked with water.
We often picnicked in their garden, but the night we went to the "Wild Garlic" 2 miles away was a real treat.
Superb in every way, Robin and Liz (and their dog Archie) create as warm and welcoming an atmosphere as a B&B could have.

Having booked to attend a foraging course with the chef proprietor of The Wild Garlic restaurant in Beaminster, I decided to make a longer weekend of it to take advantage of the excellent restaurant scene in West Dorset.
I chose the Crosskeys based on location, price and friendly response from the owners to email queries.
We found it a great base for our trip. Our room was spacious, comfortable and well-equipped with a nice ensuite bathroom.
Lots of choice was offered for breakfast, which was a relaxed affair.
The owners were friendly and helpful with tips about the local area.
We would be happy to stay here again.

The most amazing B&B we've stayed in so far. Robin & Liz were very accomodating hosts. On arrival we were served with hot tea and delectable shortbreads. The room was very spacious offering all amenities one can think of. We even had incense sticks and cologne in the bathroom. We were asked for our choice of breakfast the previous evening. We had smoked salmon with scrambled eggs that were cooked to perfection by Liz. The hosts even offered us a ride to the town centre which is about 2.5miles from the B&B. Everything was just perfect. We'd love to stay in that B&B again. Highly recommeded.
