Beautiful cottage, very comfortable beds, very spacious, nothing was overlooked to make our stay special. Even our dog was made welcome.

First time we had visited Dorset and also first time stayed in a cottage. This will not be the last.....We had a brillant time ..very good hosts..area was so delightful. We went out and about all over ..loved Lyme Regis..had brillant hot weather..the best part was coming back to the cottage each night.loved it loved it...we only stayed for a week and was very bitterly disappointed that we had not booked in for a longer period..Looking forward to going back real soon. There was everything that you need in the cottage ,very clean and very comfortable. The children loved feeding the goats each morning who live at the bottom of the garden....can not wait to return brillant time had by all.

“Beautiful cottage in picturesque village, lots nearby”
Reviewed 7 September 2013 for a stay in September 2013

We stayed for three nights at the beginning of Sept. The cottage, like the weather was perfect. Wood and stone provide a traditional and tasteful feel to the cottage. Hot, powerful shower, fully fitted kitchen, Sky TV and comfortable beds and sofa give it the modern comforts that make coming back at the end of a long day exploring a pleasure in itself.
Outside three goats, two (very big) pigs, sheep and two little horses captivated my 9 year old daughter's heart (not forgetting the owners friendly dog, Barley). The cottage is on the outskirts of the pretty village of Broadwindsor with a well stocked community store, friendly pub and craft centre to visit. A walk into the village can take longer than expected as people actually stop and say hello.
The owners, David and Elaine live on site and are very welcoming and make you feel right at home from the moment you arrive.
Surrounding the village there is lots to do. Picture perfect countryside invite long walks and the nearby towns of Beaminster and the larger Bridport have much to offer, including markets on certain days. The Jurassic Coast is close by car with West Bay, Charmouth and the lovely Lyme Regis all waiting to be explored. Slightly further along a beautiful coastal drive is Weymouth, with sandy beaches and Sea Life Centre.
We crammed these into three all too short days, but much more time could be spent at each and the many other other places nearby that we hope to explore next year.
Although I would happily recommend this cottage to my closest friends without fear of disappointing, part of me wants to keep it secret, just so we can be sure of being able to book next year..

Just returned from a wonderful week in Dorset at orchard cottage. The cottage is fantastic with everything u could possible want inside. It was so clean and cosy and much bigger then I expected. Our hosts John Elaine Ryan and Rosie couldn't do enough for us and my girls were made too feel so welcome. I would thoroughly recommend this beautiful cottage, great value for money and a fantastic holiday. We will definitely be going back!!

“Wonderful Cottage, Wonderful Hosts, Wonderful Holiday”
Reviewed 14 July 2013 for a stay in July 2013

We knew when we booked Orchard Cottage for our one week stay that it was going to be special, but wow it was even better than the pictures. On arrival we were welcomed by Elaine and Barley, the family's gorgeous dog. Elaine showed us into the cottage, where she had left some wonderful biscuits, tea and milk which were much appreciated after our long journey. We arrived on 5th July at the start of the heatwave, but the house stayed lovely and cool with all the windows open. Sadly the conservatory was too hot to sit in so we did not make use of this, but this wasn't a problem as the garden is just so lovely and peaceful to sit in. Our 16 month old dog Pebbles saw the garden as one big adventure. We made the most of the sunshine and went out every day - so many places to visit within an hour of the cottage. Thank you David for recommending Burton Bradstock, a lovely stretch of beach where we could take Pebbles, and to Elaine for telling us about Forde Abbey and Gardens; I had read about the latter and had dismissed this but after speaking to Elaine we decided to visit and we are so glad we did - such beautiful gardens. We could not go in the house as dogs were not permitted, but we all enjoyed the gardens. What a gem, and only 15 mins drive form the cottage. We went to Corfe Castle, Durdle Door, Portland Lighthouse, Seatown to name a few of the places we visited, Tired at the end of each day out, we returned to our home from home to have a wonderful shower - the water pressure was fantastic. Finally we would collapse into the most comfortable bed giving a good nights sleep ready for the following days adventure. We hope to visit again next year and we know come rain or shine we will have another brilliant time at Orchard cottage. Thank you again Elaine and David for being excellent hosts. We really did have a 5 star holiday at your cottage.

“Fantastic cottage in an idyllic location with warm & welcoming hosts”
Reviewed 24 June 2013 for a stay in April 2013

We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Orchard Cottage which was peaceful, extremely comfortable and well equipped. The owners, David and Elaine, were very helpful and provided us with some useful information for day trips to keep our three children entertained. There are some great walks nearby which have some outstanding views of the local area - even our teenage girls agreed! We hardly saw our son who was in his element playing football in the adjacent field with David and Elaine's son. Even the pigs, sheep and goats were friendly! The only downside to our week was when we had to leave -This was our second visit and will definitely not be the last.

“Our 4th visit to Orchard Cottage.”
Reviewed 23 June 2013 for a stay in June 2013

We have just spent another week in Orchard Cottage (our 4th visit in the last couple of years) and similar to previous stays we have had a very relaxing and enjoyable break despite the unsettled weather. During this holiday we noticed that the property has undergone some improvements with the spacious lounge looking very fresh and contemporary whilst retaining its country/rustic style. We were also pleased to see that the much needed community shop has finally opened and although small, it sells different types of fresh bread, newspapers, fruit and veg and is well worth a visit as is the Saturday street market in Bridport. David and Elaine were as friendly as ever and even the goats seemed to have mellowed since our last holiday.
