“Rude owner and not family friendly”
Reviewed 14 July 2014

My family and I stayed at the Glen of Aherlow campsite at the end of June to celebrate the kids finishing school for the summer. We were with two other faimilies with a total 6 adults and 10 children with us.
The campsite is located in the beautiful Glen of Aherlow and has good facilities. However this campsite is NOT Family Friendly. We have stayed in many campsites all over Ireland, U.K and France an are seasoned campers but I have never been met with the rudeness of George the owner of the campsite. The children were cycling around on their bikes, playing ball games climbing tress ( basically being children) On our second night while preparing dinner the owner approached us and in a very aggressive manner told us that our kids were causing trouble, disturbing other guests. We were sure they must have done something wrong. We said we would talk to them. He continued in a very aggressive manner to tell us to keep them up in a small section that they were not allowed to cycle around or leave our immediate area.
On further investigation we found that he had approached two of our young children age 2 and 3 who were drawing out lines in the pea gravel that their behaviour was totally unacceptable. Of course being so young they did not know what he was saying only that he scared them. The intimidation from the owner continued as he sat in his small car and watched our children as they played. We felt totally uncomfortable and under inspection for the remainder of our stay we left early the next day.
As I said we have never come across this before anywhere we have stayed. We will be returning again to Tipperary in the next few weeks but not to this campsite rather one that we have stayed with on many times before.

Dear "avondale1",

Thank you for choosing to stay here in Glen of Aherlow Caravan & Camping Park recently and thank you also for your feedback. I am terribly sorry to see that you did not have a pleasant stay with us.

I feel it necessary at this point to mention that during your stay we received a large number of complaints form other guests, including an Inspector who was on site at the time, with regard to your children's unruly behavior. An example of such reported to us includes a Lady having stones kicked up into her face. Regrettably this behavior led to us having to issue refunds to a number of guests.

We operate a peaceful, all-inclusive, family orientated Park and we cannot under any circumstances tolerate behavior which causes major disturbance to other guests in the Park.

We receive approximately 150 pieces of feedback each month, all are uploaded onto a very comprehensive guest feedback log. All of these comments are received by way of letter, e-mail, guest questionnaire taken from past guests and comments from guests in the Park. As you can imagine, over the years a vast amount of feedback has been uploaded onto the customer feedback log. The overwhelming majority of this feedback is positive and we have never received a comment such as yours. With this in mind if you would like to discuss this further please contact us directly at rdrew@tipperarycamping.com
Thank you sincerely,
Nigel Drew.

We stayed on a Friday and Saturday night and we were impressed with the quality of the facilities. It is well laid out and whilst we had a motorhome tent visitors are well catered for with cooking facilities and a TV room. George the owner was helpful in his advice. We made the trip up to the Aherlow House Hotel for a meal and it is only 5 minutes away, a useful local facility.

Room Tip: For a motorhome the road from Galbally to the site in is narrow in places so pay attention at the be...

From my initial phone call with Rosaline i was happy with the choice of our very first caravan break away. We met George on arrival and we were placed in a lovely site with breath-taking views of the mountains, the kids were safe to run off and explore while we set up the caravan. location wise we were in the centre of everywhere with a friendly tourist board just down the road. No question was too big or small for George and he never imposed on us at any time but was there always if needed. Hope to return as we met some lovely people there and there is so much that we didnt explore....keep up the good work and many thanks :)

Room Tip: Cannot fault where we stayed for location - view brilliant

The camp site is run by George and Rosaline, a lovely couple who keep the campsite to very high standard. We stayed for one night in a motorhome and couldn't fault it. The pitches are very level with plenty of space between. Access to the site is controlled by a barrier and key fob which makes it quite secure. It is perfectly located to take advantage of the numerous walking trails and breathtaking scenery that the Glen of Aherlow has to offer. There is a games room,TV room and kitchen for the use of the site guests, the bathrooms and showers are spotless with plenty of piping hot water. I would highly recommend this this camp site and myself and my wife are planning our next return.
