We were warmly welcomed to the pub by smiling staff.
It wasn't very busy for a Friday night so we looked forward to good food and service.
The service was very good with appropriate waiting and customer care skills. The menu was a little disappointing with a rather minimal choice.
The pie was declared as excellent. The cod with beurre blanc was a first class emulsion sauce with delightful flavours, unfortunately the fish was a very poor cut that had the skirt folding underneath to improve it's shape, appearance and apparent size. A bit of cheating the customer! It would have better to have chosen a better cut. What a shame.
We ordered and stated very clearly we wanted a medium rare sirloin and reinforced our desire for it to be on the rare side. It was not and was decidedly medium. Agreed by the waiter who refund the cost of the dish.
So, the restaurant didn't meet it's contract with us. That's not we would expected from this establish and it's apparent reputation. They did what they could to provide a refund. But that's all too late.
This is a lovely place and so we left a feeling disappointed that they were unable to meet their obligation and proved both good service and good food.
