“WONDERFULLY RUSTIC MALTESE”
Reviewed 2 October 2013

Mjarr is a typical Maltese village in the north of Malta with its large church at the centre. The village has various restaurants that are frequented, in the main, by Maltese. In the last 2 years this wine bar has opened and this is the second time this year we have visited with the first time being April. The atmosphere is superb with it being tightly packed with all sorts of decorations necessary to set the scene of a rustic wine bar. The Maltese element is, of course, partly the wine, the delicious Maltese platter and the Maltese service by the owner; superb. Having dined out at some of Malta's finest restaurant's this visit, this place in its way was no less enjoyable and if people want to visit a Maltese gem which will leave a memory, then visit this place.

“Authentic atmosphere”
Reviewed 27 August 2013

Very cozy tiny place, for very special evening. The place is very authentic where you will get a feeling of being served like a family member, and selection of wines is really abundant, it’s definitely worth to visit.

“Fine wine fantastic friendly service”
Reviewed 17 August 2013

We didn't eat here but we were given local marinated olives and local bread prepared Maltese style to compliment our wine, both of which were beautiful (especially the olives..they were huge)

This local bar is a real find and next time we will eat here. The attention we were given on sitting down was quite superb, very caring and knowledgable about the wine and very happy to recomend yet confident to say that if we didnt like it, there would be no problem replacing with another. From that point you knew that this was a bar / restaurant that knew how to look after customers.

Approx 30€ each way in a taxi from Valetta, but well worth the 20 minute journey and fare. My advice is go in the evening to arrive 7.30 to 8pm and arrange taxi to pick you up 10.30 because the village comes alive later. But make a reservation for this restaurant or another if you want to eat in Mgarr.

Note 3rd weekend in August is normally fiesta so can be very busy.
