“Fourth Time and still wanting to come back!”
Reviewed 4 November 2013

We have now stayed at the Lapida Garden Hotel for four consecutive years, and we look forward each time to the warmth of the weather and the welcome. For someone wanting a break in the idyllic surroundings of a lovely garden full of fruit trees ad hibiscus plants, watched over by ever changing mountains caught in the light of the sun, then do consider this hotel. As Fethi [the joint owner with his Mum Mary] will tell you " We are not luxury, but we are good value and we are clean and friendly" and they are. It is good honest and wholesome; the swimming pool is a delight and the fountain of information which Fethi is as an accredited Tour Guide, is invaluable. The breakfast is plentiful and always has fresh fruit and yogurt, local cheeses and home made Haloumi Bread and conserves and if you want your eggs done differently to Hard boiled, then all you have to do is ask. We stayed half Board, but you can always order lunch each day by chatting to Mary.
Evening meals are traditional North Cypriot Turkish food and cooked by Mum. [She also runs cookery classes most afternoons which are hilarious and great fun]
This year we hired a car which Fethi arranged for us, and were able to explore a little more including Famagusta and up into the Five Finger mountains to the east of Kyrenia to Kantara Castle - absolutely stunning views.

For a swim in the sea, five miles or so to the west of Lapta is Horseshoe Bay - quiet and sandy although rocky underfoot in the water - and the Restaurant where fresh fish is to die for! This incidentally is included in one of the organised Tours, which also takes in a Maronite Village and The Blue House!

Will we go back...of course we will. It is a delight, but, don't expect five star luxury because that, it is not. It is a family business, and you will feel at home, but with the added delight of not having to do anything. Northern Cyprus is delightful, beautiful, and next time we may well go in the Spring to see the abundance of flowers including the Cyprus Tulip and 25 varieties of wild orchid!

Room Tip: Basically all rooms are the same, except for the two end ones which overlook the garden and pool...o...

Booked hotel on the basis of TA overwhelming positive reviews and have never been disappointed up until now. Booked 5 nights stayed 1
Found hotel eventually (Google map is way way off). Room would have been spacious but the 2 of us did not need a 3rd bed plus a cot in the room. No cover for duvet. Doesn't this bother anyone else ?? the duvets ARE NOT changed with each guest. Bathroom lacked the basics of a plug for the sink!! Only 1 of 4 lights work in bathroom The extendable magnifying mirror in the bathroom lacked the basics of a mirror. The shower hose leaked. TV didn't work as the aerial was out but it didn't really matter as the reception was so poor anyway.
The whole place was grubby, tired and in need of an upgrade.
Yes they owners where hospitable yes the gardens are lovely but sorry couldn't stay, final straw was the barking dogs all night.

We arrived around 5pm, when we went to check in there was nobody at reception so we sat and waited around twenty mins, we then went to the restaurant to look for somebody. We still couldn't find anybody so we sat and waited again. In the end we found a man who turned out to be the owners brother, he gave us a room key. We then we had no blankets, only a sheet each. Here we go again, lets go and find somebody. A lady that does the cooking came, we were given two duvets, one single and one double for twin beds!! Still no covers for the quilts (they didn't look the whitest so we wanted covers. Lets try again, we found a friend of the family. Apparently the family were out for the day. She then found us some covers, all this took nearly one and a half hours!! Yes they did know we were coming, so the room should have been ready. The room was large and cleanish with a small television that had no English channels. We had a kettle but no cups! There was a decent clean fridge in the room. The bathroom sink and toilet were clean but the shower needs some attention to the grouting. Half the water came out of the shower head and the rest spurted out the shower hose. The bed was comfortable. Breakfast was nothing to rave about, maybe it's better in the summer months. While we were having breakfast Fehti did come and appoligise about our check in and he does seem to be a nice man. Guess what? when we went to check out we couldn't find anybody!! we put the key on the desk and left. After our experence we would not use this hotel again.

Booked a last minute 7 night stay on B & B basis after reading reviews on Trip Advisor. Whilst we had an pleasant stay at Lapida, enjoyed wonderful warm weather and exploring parts of Northern Cyprus I would like to make the following points;

Many reviews placed great emphasis on the delicious home cooked food..........breakfast was same every day and despite many references to the plentiful fresh fruit there was a limited choice.
We booked on a B & B basis and enjoyed some lovely meals in Lapta, Girne and surrounding areas we did have 3 evening meals at Lapida and found them very bland with again little evidence of the plentiful fresh fruit and vegetables as seen in the roadside markets.
The rooms are very basic, and possibly due to shortage of staff were not always cleaned until late each day.
The hospitality shown by Fethi is good but erratic.
It appears to be advertised by some travel companies as a "boutique" hotel, which in our opinion it is not.
We would consider returning to Lapida, only on B & B basis and maybe earlier in the season when standards may be higher

Just returned from a very relaxed two weeks holiday at this Hotel, family run small hotel with very friendly and helpfull staff.Mary and Fehti cant do enough to make your stay enjoyable. The garden is wonderful lovely fruit trees, herbs, rose bushes, you get to enjoy the fresh fruits for breakfast. The garden has so many different areas and seating hammock, deck chairs, swinging seats, and areas to eat. The pool. feels like your own private pool with views of the mountains and the sea.Fehti will arrange car hire and help with directions,or book a relaxed trip with Fehti very informative and very much at your pace.Would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

just come back from 2 glorious weeks at this hotel. Fehti and Mary do their best to make you feel comfortable and at home. only a small hotel but the service is great. beds are extremely comfortable, air con works and no extra cost. all the staff helpful. Fehti will help you with car hire and explain how to get somewhere if you want or arrange trips. the swimming pool felt like a private pool as it is such a small hotel. the fruit trees in the garden are wonderful including banana, pomegranate, lemon, mango and others. you can lie in the sun or in the shade whatever you want. would fully recommend this hotel to any one if you want a nice quiet hotel. would not recommend for teenagers.
