Colin went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed. Fire doors meant noise didn't carry so once the children went to bed we could enjoy our evening without worrying about disturbing them. Kitchen is a little small for the size of the place, but manageable. I think there are plans to put in a larger kitchen. Maybe stick a pool table and darts board whin the extra space? :)

My husband and I booked a long weekend stay at Telford House for our extended family. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel extremely welcome. The house was warm, clean and spacious. Each member of our family had a lovely room as well as a TV (just incase they needed some 'time out'!) Even the dogs had their own doggy beds and treats. We would thoroughly recommend a stay here.

“We loved this place”
Reviewed 23 April 2015 for a stay in April 2015

Great place for a large group. Added bonus is that the thick walls and fire doors mean that the children sleep well as noise doesn't travel. Great to have Colin on hand and he is so obliging, he even went to Imea and got us a high chair for the wee one, couldn't ask for better service.
Plenty of space for the kids to run play. We'll be booking to go back next year.

“50th birthdays”

We've just returned after a 3 night stay celebrating my husband and his friends' 50th birthday. There was 11 adults and 7 children and we had a fab time. Easter eggs were on the dining table when we arrived for the kids, and biscuits/shortbread and wine for the adults. A lovely touch :). Thoroughly enjoyed our stay so much, that we are considering staying again next year. Thanks to Colin and Thomas for everything.

“Excellent rental property!”

Just returned from a 2 night stay at this property. There were 20 family members (plus one wee dog!) - a get together to celebrate our fathers 80th birthday. We were warmly greeted by Colin & Chris who showed us round and presented us with a welcome pack of wine, biscuits and a lovely cake. The dining table was already set for us. The kitchen was very well equipped. Plenty of crockery & cutlery, 2 toasters, 2 kettles & 2 microwaves, 5 burner gas hob, electric oven, dishwasher, fridge, freezer (plus extra fridges downstairs!) washing machine - everything was spotlessly clean. The main living room (party room!) was warm, comfortable and relaxing. Bedrooms were set up in various combinations ie 2 x doubles, a triple (3 single beds) on the ground floor; upstairs there is a family room (double bed plus single bed) en suite, a further family room, 3xtwin rooms and 2 singles. Travel cots provided too. There are 6 bathrooms with showers. Some rooms had sinks in them as well. Free wifi available. The property has central heating & an electric fire in the living room.
Check out time is 10am due to the fact the property is so big it takes some time to get it set up for the next party coming in.
Really glad we found this house because it meant all our family could be together in the one place, and, it was excellent value for money as far as we were concerned.
The Old Stables pub is about 5 mins down the road from the house which serves food and has a beer garden. Friendly atmosphere.
Moffat is a10 minute drive away - we had an excellent lunch in the Stag Hotel. Excellent menu. The food was delicious, reasonably priced and the staff were very efficient and pleasant. Dogs are allowed in the bar/games room area.
All in all a great weekend!

Liked best: Great big house with loads of space. Ideal for large parties.
Liked least: A later check out time would be great but I understand the reasons for the 10am time.

“Brilliant for a big group”

Sorry this has taken me so long to write a review! We stayed here for my 30th birthday celebration. The owners were there to meet us on arrival along with the caretaker Colin. They had made up the table for our dinner and even given us a cake, wine and a card which was a lovely gesture and much appreciated. One of the owners showed me round the whole house which was huge! All rooms were basic but comfortable and some had an en suite. Colin then gave us the keys and told us to have a good time but he was downstairs in his apartment if we needed him. I would definitely recommend for a big group of friends going away. It was good to have everyone together and have the space for us all to be in the one room. It was a bit tight in the living room but there were enough seats. The large table was good for us all to have our meals together. The kitchen struggled with the ridiculous amount of food we brought but it wasn't really an issue. We just had to time the cooking of things. Another thing is that dogs were welcome which was good for us. There's also a caravan park not far which has a big lake you can walk around. There's also a local pub just 5 minutes from the house. For the price we paid this place was a bargain and met all our requirements. I would visit again.

Management Response

Thank you for your review. Just to give you an update. We have not only extended the kitchen but are in the process of installing a second one downstairs along with a second lounge, another bedroom (en suite) and extra toilet. This is due to the larger party's booking, so we can sleep 24 in the house. Hope you come back soon, you are all most welcome (and dogs xx) Regards, Chris & Thomas

“Perfect place for a group getaway”

We really enjoyed our stay here. The caretaker was very helpful and friendly and the owners had even left a cake and a card for my wife's birthday. Plenty of space, perfectly clean and a great venue for a weekend getaway for a group of friends. Only problem was that none of the showers worked while we were there, but apparently this was due to an electrical fault caused by work in the village. Otherwise it was a great experience.
