We have been here 7 out of ten days, the weather hasn't always been the best but in a beautiful place like this it hardly matters.
This is the best accommodation we have ever had, anywhere in the world.
Reasons would include:
Fantastic location and views over the water.
Comfortable cottage, small bathroom but that was fine.
Good free internet to the rooms and outside areas.
English channels on TV, not that we had much time for TV.
Management and staff were wonderful. They could not do enough to help and went well out of their way to assist in a range of areas, especially those that required an interpreter, since we do not speak any French.

When the weather improved, the local beach was fantastic for swimming.
Local bicycle hire was a bonus.
Local restaurants, a short walk away, were really good.

Others have already mentioned the grounds and facilities, we can only agree.

For a peaceful, relaxing time with access to the beautiful Frehel Peninsula, this place is perfect.

We thought this hotel was a real find. It has a terrific setting with views over the sea but also over its own absolutely lovely grounds with a lake surrounded by lawns. It is a gorgeous old building. We had a room in the main house at a very reasonable 55 euros. It was not huge but well equipped with a comfortable bed and small but functional bathroom. (Other rooms are larger (some with views) and at different costs so you have choice.) The hotel is furnished using many antiques which suit it well. The hotel is very well run and friendly. Breakfast was served in the lovely conservatory and offered not just the usual croissant and bread but also homemade yoghurt, muesli and charcuterie and cheese. Drinks - alcoholic or otherwise - are available during the day as well as cakes and there are chairs and sun loungers set out in the grounds. Very welcoming. Its an easy walk into Les Sables where you can eat but the hotel also has details of restaurants in the area.

Our second visit in 3 years and this time we had pretty poor, cold weather, but because of the lovely new conservatory on the back of the hotel we were still able to profit from the lovely view of the bay, duck pond and the ever changing sky. This is a friendly cosy, hotel with no pretensions. A real home from home. We spent the late cold afternoons playing cards in the conservatory with a delcious tea. Breakfasts are good and we spent hours dawdling over ours - no one pushing us out of the way. Home made jams and yogurts much appreciated. The beds are comfortable, there is lashings of hot water and despite it being May we were invited to put our heating on and no one switched it off during the day, so we came back to a lovely warm room. Not something you will experience in a chain hotel! Appreciated th clean towels put out every day. All the main UK channels on the TV - very rare. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Room Tip: Room 10 is at the top of the hotel with a nice view and is spacious. There is a bath with shower tap...

Thanks a lot for your feedback about your stay in our place!

We where really impatient to read the first review about the "new" (though made of steel) conservatory.
Our waiting and the troubles this winter was worth it!

Over the inside webcam (see our offical webpage), you can now even see breakfast live!

And YES the homemade yogurts and the differents marmelade (new sort this year: Orange-Mango!)
are being appreciated....

Looking forward to receive you next to test our "honesty bar" with seaview!

Best regards

we were touring historic buildings in Normandy and Brittany and were looking for a restful place in a quiet spot for 2 nights. Online I found this little inn, and the pictures looked so inviting I could not resist. When we arrived it turned out to be even more beautiful than I had anticipated. It was a cold, rainy day, but there was a crackling fire in the huge fireplace and the reception was warm and welcoming after a long day driving. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, the bathrooms sparkling clean and well appointed, the heating system in the room worked perfectly and immediately, the views from my window were just lovely, over a park like lawn to a large pond with cattails and ducks and waterfowl and muscrats and then on to the bay in the near distance and out to sea and setting sun beyond, a really long and layered view. The Manoir St. Michel offered everything we were looking for and more. Friendly, helpful innkeeper, nearby restaurants to choose from, excellent fresh fish and seafood from the bay... beautiful unspoiled natural surroundings ... Breakfast was in front of the fire, and was abundant with marvelous local jam and butter, plenty to eat in a wonderful atmosphere...I would like to go back and spend a week there with some good books... it would be a perfect spot for a seaside family vacation, for a romantic weekend or week, or just for a rest in a quiet spot.

Room Tip: an upstairs room with a sea view would be my choice, but there are some larger suits that might suit...

Dear guest,

Thanks a lot for your review..

Yes we are a little bit "hidden" in a place where nature and sea have still more to say than civilisation...
Nevertheless, Dinard and St Malo are 30km from here....

But still, the people like you who finds us are, till now, not disappointed and we'll do our best that it stays this way.

AND to keep low prices, we have chosen to stay away from Online Travel Agencies (Booking and the lot) and that's why you can only book directly by contacting us.

We look forward to receive you another time that you can enjoy a nice sunset from our new Orangerie.

We have stayed at le Manoir on a couple of occasions. The hotel is in a wonderful location, easy for the beach and walking into Sables d'Or. The rooms we have stayed in are comfortable, individual, quiet and with lovely views. Breakfast is excellent, in front of an open log fire in winter, very cosy, and drinks can be taken in the bar or outside in the summer. We will definitely be returning, one of our favourite places in France.

Thanks a lot for your nice feedback!

On your next visit, you'll have the choice between the open fire room OR the conservatory orangery! (keywords for the blog: veranda manoir michel)

You'll be able to enjoy breakfast with the lake and beach view even if the weather gets a bit chilly in spring, which hardly happends in brittany ;-)

Looking forwards receiveing you in 2013!

Of the many locations we stayed during a two week trip this was perhaps one of the best treats and totally underestimated. What a gem.

Restored in the mid 70's this 400+ year old farm house was beautiful in every way. Jerome (son of the previous owners) and wife Sandra maintain wonderful standards and allow their guests to enjoy a rather large property for the area.

Mostly a beachfront community the overlook down to the town (not much there other than a Casino and a few restaurants) the beach and coastal area is very inviting. But frankly, just sitting on their chairs drinking a nice bottle of wine will keep you mesmerized for hours.

The father put in a beautiful pond willed with just enough ducks and provide the property a spacial look that is a bit rare for French country Inn's. Breakfast is just enough in a fantastic room with a large fireplace that is popping with logs and keeping you warm in the cool evenings and mornings. Really a great treat and if you are headed to this coastal area stop in on this very comfortable Inn for NOT just one night, but many.

Room Tip: We had a third floor room (10) with a nice view of the yard, pond, yard. This was in the main buildi...

Thanks a lot for you nice review. We really enjoy reading feedbacks.
It helps us improving our service and also motivate us a lot.

You were here to relax and enjoy your time, and we are happy to have made it possible.

We are located in a small village by the sea. For more action, cities like Saint Malo or Dinan are not far from here (30miles)

The ducks are doing fine and we have news ducklings since a few days.

Best regard,

Sandra. Jerome and the Manor's team.

We are spending a few days in France playing golf. The accommodation here is just what we require. Very friendly, clean and cosy. Beautiful view of the coast ,lovely gardens, optional breakfast. Shame the hotel does not do evening meals, but there are restaurants locally. We will be back to stay on our future golfing trips.
