“Weekend stay”
Reviewed 6 August 2014

Stayed at the Bexleyheath Marriot first weekend in July. Lovely welcome of a refreshing juice as we walked into reception to check in, especially as just had a long drive and a ferry. Fab location. Lovely clean, spacious room and bathroom. And quiet. Agree with other reviewers regarding wifi, should be free in bedrooms, a bit cheap on the Marriots part to charge for that. Good quality and choice at breakfast. Gym and pool good. Have stayed here a few times and will continue to do so when visiting family in the area.

I have stayed at this hotel many times and always find it a most enjoyable stay. Good food and well kept comfortable rooms. The only minus side is that the wifi really should be free to guest. When will Marriot realise that this is a big draw for people like myself when looking for an hotel to stay in.
Other than that I would recommend this hotel any time.

On arrival we had a problem with the lack of disabled parking but the Duty Manager dealt with it swiftly and pleasantly and it was sorted in a matter of minutes- an encouraging start.
As my husband is disabled I had asked for a room near an elevator but even better, we were given one on the ground floor (410) which was just a short walk from the reception - no stairs- bliss for hubby. We had two queen sized beds which were very comfortable. The room was lovely, spacious, clean with all the usual amenities.
Before going out for the evening we had a drink in the well stocked bar (though the barman could have been a bit more friendly). The drinks were very expensive.
Returning late in the night I decided to leave a window open (I don't like air conditioning)- what a mistake! Our room was next to the main road and near the traffic lights so we hardly got a wink of sleep. I wish I'd kept the window shut and used the air con.
The breakfast was very good with a wide buffet selection as well as full English. All the staff we met at the hotel (apart from the afore mentioned barman) were extremely helpful and friendly and should be commended on their service skills.
Apart from the traffic noise and the lack of disabled parking spaces (and the £5 charge) we had a very pleasant stay. I would certainly recommend the Marriott but ask for a room overlooking the garden.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the garden well would be quieter.

Visiting the area so booked to stay at this first class hotel. On arrival we where told that as our room was ready we could check in early (we had planned to park go and go out and come back later) The room was first class with everything you could ask for including a fridge, very useful in the summer. Air conditioning was very welcome. We had a bar snack in the evening which was very tasty and served well. Although on a main road we heard no outside noise, so a good nights sleep. The facilities looked very good, nice leisure club ( unfortunately not enough time to use). A few weeks ago we stayed in a Travel Inn (Canterbury) considering both hotels cost the same there was no comparison. All the staff where smart and very polite, Well done Marriott very impressed

Room Tip: I think all the rooms would be good.

I have severe arthritis and have difficulty climbing and it seemed that everywhere we went there were stairs to climb. Stairs from the car park to the courtyard, more stairs from the courtyard to the lobby, then stairs from the lobby to the room, none of which were served by an elevator. I don't think this hotel would pass an inspection to see if it passed the Americans with Disability act. Apart from the stairs the hotel was fine, pleasant staff, a nice bar with decent draft beer, a very nice buffet breakfast in the restaurant that also served a nice dinner. I wonder, though, how marriott hotels in the UK are allowed by Marriott not to have an executive lounge.

We stayed here last week for 4 nights with our disabled son. There was a hiccup with the reservation and some confusion over our rate which included breakfast. Be aware that if you book a room and you have children with you, even although the reservation says B&B for 2 adults 1 child, you will be charged for the child's breakfast. I was misinformed, but, give Marriott all due respect, they did sort it out for us. As others have said previously, the Marriott car park is tiny and is charged at £5 a day, we were lucky that on 3 out of the 4 nights we were able to park, but one night we had to park at the NCP next door, which isn't ideal for people with a disability but this was a minor irritation.
Check in was quick, and the receptionist was polite and welcoming. We had two queen beds in our deluxe double room (I called them in advance to make sure this was guaranteed) and they were probably the most comfortable beds we've had in a hotel for a long time. Pillow top mattresses and fluffy pillows meant we slept really well. It was very hot in London last week so the air conditioning was most welcome. Our room (507) was absolutely fine, very spacious with a refrigerator iron and ironing board in the wardrobe with plenty hanging space. There was a large screen TV. The bathroom was perfectly fine and the shower was powerful. Overall, we felt the room was in good condition. We were very pleased that it was quiet as it faced into the courtyard so no road noise for us.
We had breakfast each morning and much to our sons delight, they had pancakes so he was happy. He is a terribly fussy eater and can only eat certain foods but the pancakes were delicious and we were grateful that there was something he could enjoy for breakfast. There is a buffet with the usual selection of continental and hot items and it was replenished often tea/coffee is served at your table. We tended to have breakfast after 10am and it was never overly busy, considering we stayed over a weekend. There were poached and fried eggs on offer and there is also an omelette station where you put whatever you want in your omelette on a plate and the chef cooks to order for you. My vegetarian hubby enjoyed this, I did too, although I did have to ask for a "small" one because they were quite big. The restaurant staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for us. At 11am, staff would normally ask you if you would like anything else from the buffet before they began clearing things away. We also ate lunch in the hotel one day. It was delicious and we felt it was good value. We didn't have dinner in the hotel, but from the menu we saw, it looked perfectly fine and reasonably priced given we were in a four star hotel. The pool was a welcome addition and we used it twice. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again. Thank you to Bharat Madan, and all the staff for making our stay so enjoyable and we hope to see you again soon.

Room Tip: Rooms facing away from the road are quieter.
