I finished booking our stay-over at the Mercure Lyon L'Isle d'Abeau online at http://www.mercure.com.
Since we are a family with 3 children I added "please provide connecting rooms" in the notebox for the hotel manager.
6 minutes after confirming, a friendly lady rings me on my mobile apologising for not having any connecting rooms within the chosen room type, asking if she could propose this in a different, lowercost roomtype.
I am amazed by this excellent customer service.
This avoids the time-wasting unfriendly "usual surprises" at check-in.
