“Team Building Workshop”
Reviewed 7 July 2013

Just want to say 'thank you' to Chris and Maddy for a well organised lunch for my board and staff one day team building workshopThe venue is beautifully nestled among Australian native trees and overlooking a peaceful lake. The lunch exceeds my board's expectations and the variety of sweets is just delightful. Thank you again Chris & Maddy

Last stayed here 25 years ago and the location by the big dam is still lovely.Stayed in the end apartment and it was very clean but a bit run down, shower screen was broken and not much crockery for self catering,no salt and pepper provided that sort of shortage. But good sized kitchen with full sized cooker.
Bedrooms were large, unfortunately have to go through one bedroom to get to other, not the best for two couples, however the beds were very clean and very comfy.Horrible spiral staircase to negotiate in the night to get to the toilet below.Worn out log fire with no firewood provided.Rooms were gloomy with horrible natural light lamps.,with some lamps missing
While the rooms were clean the outside was a bit daggy ,broken bottle lay on path all the time we were there, and garbage bags not collected so crows had ripped them open and scattered contents all over the place.Never saw any staff as mid week the place was empty, bit like a ghost resort, which is good for the quiet. But for the price and location it is still a good deal for overpriced WA resorts...

Room Tip: All rooms face the water and the west, setting sun can be annoying.

My only regret is that I hadn't found this resort years and years ago when the kids were younger.
So...if you have young kids...please come here while they're young.

Ok, it's a bush resort and the accommodation is rustic and dated but that's the charm after all.

You can choose from two storey cabins which suit couples or older children or you can stay in single storey spacious accommodation, more suited to younger children.

All units are on the water.

Canoes are available free.

The food at the restaurant is terrific and the service also great.

The location in the Ferguson Valley is fabulous and winter time would be best to get the green sweeping hills dotted with cows.

A trip to Gnomesille is a must. Buy your family gnomes to take with you. There's already over 5000 gnomes at Gnomesville and you'll find a home for yours! Take a trip back into childhood. Adults just can't get the smiles off their faces at Gnomesville.

I really would like to say nice things about Evedon Park as the setting is wonderful. A piece of the Australian bush with a lake and views over the coastal plain thrown in.

The resort was apparently opened in the early 1980s and its age is starting to show. We stayed in one of the the cabins, not the 2 storey apartments so I can only comment on what we saw. We stayed in the Wandoo cabin.

The cabins are old and are badly in need of a complete facelift including ALL the furniture, beds, lights, curtains, carpets etc.

The sliding doors to the balcony were HORRIBLE! Almost impossible to open or close properly.

The barn doors connecting the balconies could only be locked from one side.

On the balcony there were nail heads sticking up so that you could damage your feet on them if you did not have shoes on.

The chairs on the balcony were uncomfortable.

The chairs inside are worn out and only seat 4 people in a 5 person (max) unit. Ok there were only 4 of us so we didn't mind quite so much but they still need replacing.

The utensils provided in the kitchen are very limited. Basic things like a cutting board, veggie peeler etc,. were missing.

The fry-pan is too small to cook for 5 people let alone 4. We suggest a visit by the manager to the nearest Op-Shop to buy some more utensils. It would only take a small amount of money to get enough utensils and cooking pots to make the kitchen area much better.

Pillows were flat and there weren't enough so we had to ask for more.

Single beds were uncomfortable, the double was ok.

Lighting in the bedrooms is too limited. Not everyone wants to be blinded every time the lights go on. A choice of soft lighting is badly needed.

Blankets were horrible and insufficient, they all need replacing.

The toilet is old and the vanity needs replacing. Ok it works but it looks like it is direct from the 1970s. It is time to update it.

Hot water was very good and the stove in the kitchen was great. Other appliances supplied like toaster, kettle etc. were also good.

Security in the unit is poor so don't leave any valuables there.

With a bit more attention to detail this place would be wonderful. As it was, we enjoyed our stay but if you are looking for 4 or 5 star then forget it.

Other items that could be improved, more coffee and tea supplied, and for goodness sake replace that awful OLD evaporative air-conditioner. It is the most noisy contraption we have ever seen in a hotel. n the subject of noise and replacing things, also the bathroom fan is far too noisy and the light on the kitchen exhaust fan did not work - the fan on this was noisy when turning on/off too.

The free canoes on the lake were great and we even dared to swim a bit but as this is not running water we kept our heads out of the water.

We did enjoy our stay despite the negatives but unless many things were upgraded we probably would think twice before going again.

Room Tip: If you stay in a cabin get one that is shaded from the afternoon sun. Yes we read the other reviews...

we have just returned from our second stay at Evedon Park Resort. Only 2 hour drive south of Perth and a truly scenic setting evening in the middle of a hot summer. On our first stay New years eve 2011-12 we stayed in the 2 story "apartments". All apartmernts face the lovel lake, A bit of a challenge with the spiral staircase leading to the mezannine floor and bedrooms. The apartments are extremely close with balconies joined. This time we chose a single story cabin and preferred these. Fair to call the accommodation rustic or basic but certainly clean with decent quality linen. Cold water in the fridge upon arrival. Nothing could beat sitting on the verandah overlooking the lake after a busy day visiting local wineries and breweries. We chose not to use the outdoor bbq and the owners very kindly loaned us a portable weber bbq instead.
Although we didnt eat at the restaurant the menu was varied and the prices reasonable. Use of the canoes are free.
This wonderful part of WA is largely unknown which is a pity - closer than Margaret River it has all you need for a few days R&R. Evedon Park is highly recommended so long as you're not wanting 5 star and are happy paying VERY reasonable prices.

Room Tip: Single story cabins are our choice to avoid the staircase in the apartments. All accommodation overl...

Only stayed one night but it's set on a beautiful lake with free canoe hire. Not great for the disabled but good for older kids or adult group. Basic accomodation but value for money and good service. Restaurant food was great. All in all we would definitely head back.

A winter stay with the fire on, in one of the lakeside apartments, a nice bottle of wine from a local winery and a stroll around the lake.

Yeah, it was all pretty pleasant and a nice break from the city amongst pretty countryside dotted with wineries, a microbrewery, the whacky gnomeville and distant sea views.

I probably wouldn't be telling someone who was over here on holiday to rush here, but for Perthites who fancy a change from Margaret River (and a shorter journey to boot) for the weekend then this might be worth a shot.
