We stayed for two nights on the 17/18 March in the attic. The building is absolutely stunning both inside and out. Unfortunately we didn't have the pleasure of meeting Francis, he does have to work during the week. However Karen is a very welcoming lady and gave us a grand tour of their palatial home.We are both interested in architecture and the sympathetic way old buildings can be restored. This was a classic. The fine touches are most welcoming to make your stay enjoyable. All we can say is that you must go and experience this wonderful building and the lovely family that share their home with you.We wish them all the very best for the future and thank them for their kindness.

Stayed here as a belated birthday gift. We were both truly touched by the character and warmth of both the castle and our hosts Karen and Francis. The experience was beyond both our expectations (we stayed in the 'Old Bedroom'). There are too many 'wow' factors to mention.
This is an wonderful place to stay anytime of the year - in the colder months you can enjoy the log burner in your room and during the warmer times of the year you can enjoy the peace and tranquility of the castle surroundings.

Booked this as a surprise treat for my partners 50th. We had 2 nights in The Attic & 1 night in the Square Room. Enjoyed staying in both the rooms both offered a different experience. Was amazing, everything about the 3 days was brilliant. Karen was very welcoming & helpful. The rooms - has to be one of the nicest quietest places I have ever stayed in. Couldn't recommend it more & can't wait to go back.

We watched the Grand Designs DVD when we arrived & the transformation is amazing.

One word sums it up OUTSTANDING!

We visited Peel Castle in Dec 2013 and it was amazing. We booked the top two floors. Every room was fantastic. The marble in my bathroom was about a foot thick! I'm not usually a fan of marble, but it was amazing. The oak floors were perfectly level and crafted by someone who was clearly a master. The stone masonry was outstanding. And the hosts were welcoming , but not intrusive.
Probably the best thing about the castle is the views though. You'd be hard pushed to find such amazing, uninterrupted views of the country anywhere. Outstanding.
I read someone had commented about the water pressure. It isn't that low, particularly when you consider you're at the top of a very tall building that is quite isolated (its isolated nature is also why it isn't surrounded by nightclubs :-) ) . Every room has wifi, it is fast (and also free!)
Even though it was reasonably expensive, I felt it was good value. There were a lot of treats left in our room, it was very warm and the house itself is superb. We would definitely go again, it is unique.

This is a lovely part of the world and a very comfortable place to stay. The interior of the castle is wonderfully eclectic, immaculately presented and the grounds peaceful and pretty. The breakfast area is beautifully presented. Although the bathrooms are modern and very nice, I agree with a previous comment that the water pressure was very poor however we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there last month. We also thought the drive from there across to Robin Hood's Bay was absolutely picturesque. Of course I agree with all the other comments in regard to the owners - you can't help admiring their hard, hard work - an enormous achievement.
