“An amazing place to stay.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 May 2014

We have just got back from a three day stay in The Attic room at Peel Castle Hellifield. We have had a most wonderful stay. It is an amazing building and its so well planned out. Each of the rooms are remarkable. They are all first class. We have previously stayed in The Old bedroom which was magical with its spectacular open fire where you can have a romantic evening in front of the fire. Karen and Francis are very good hosts and make all their guests feel so welcome. We feel so privileged to have been fortunate enough to stay.in such a spectacular building. Thank you Karen and Francis for letting us all share your wonderful home.

For anyone who appreciates 1st class accommodation in a castle restored to the highest standards, this is for you.
Our second visit to Peel Castle was no less amazing than our first.
Our hosts Karen and Francis are warm and friendly, catering for our every need to make our visit an experience we will cherish.
Every room is individual and finished to it's own excellent standard.
When we visit the Peel Castle we feel special and for me, that's what it's all about.
Breakfast is excellent.
Meal out - we found the food at the Boars Head (Long Preston) 2 miles 1st class.
I can't thank Karen and Francis enough and can't wait for our next visit.

Room Tip: The square room is wonderful, large with a log fire and an amazingly comfy bed. for the whole experi...

3 nights of total bliss! We stayed in the Old Bedroom, enormous space, brilliant shower, but all the rooms are wonderful! Francis & Karen are perfect hosts. Nothing too much trouble. We cannot fault the location at all. So many lovely touches, ie red and white local wine, chocolates, specialist vodka, cake, toiletries. Excellent breakfast, locally sourced produce, eggs from the hens roaming the garden, sausages from the butcher at the end of the lane!! This part of Yorkshire is incredible, fab walks in the national park. We cannot say enough brilliant things about this wonderful establishment. We will be returning soon!

From start to finish our stay here was amazing, I would recommend to anyone wanting a total get away from it all, we stayed in the square room, and it was totally faultless, we were made to feel welcome, we were told any questions or requests just ask, a fabulous bathroom, beautiful bedroom, the log fire we kept alight for hours, all the little extras like cupcakes shots of vodka wine in the fridge endless teas and coffees, perfection. And the breakfast was wonderful, my hubby had full English, while the home reared chickens supplied eggs so amazing no supermarket can ever beat. 100% unbeatable. Amazing job Karen and Francis x x

Room Tip: All rooms have there own individual charm.

Absolutely a joy to stay there. Had the rooftop apartment. Breathtaking views all round. Was allowed to look into the empty rooms all done to a first class standard. Already booked to stay again. Says everything. Worth every penny. Travelled from South Wales, well worth the journey.

We stayed here for the first night of our honeymoon, so as you can imagine, expectations were high. Francis and Karen were extremely welcoming and provided an excellent stay.

We stayed in the old bedroom. A stunningly beautiful and spacious room with a huge four poster bed and magnificent views of the grounds. There were plentiful complimentary goodies and the atmosphere was warm and generous. The finish of the house is outstanding - all the more impressive when you consider what they went through to create it.

Breakfast was outstanding and both Karen and Francis were generous with their time without being at all imposing.

They helped us find the perfect location for our evening meal. If you are planning on staying anywhere near this part of the world, do make sure you stay at the Hellifield Peel Castle - we can't recommend it highly enough and are now just thinking about when we can next book in!

Room Tip: Each room has its own character so do check them out online for what works for you.

We had watched its transformation from wreck to stunning restoration on Grand designs and longed to one day. It lives up to all expectations of the views and charm externally, however the attention to detail inside is exceptional.
A very friendly greeting on arrival by the owner Karen with a guided tour of the facilities available to us. We were shown to our room "The Square Room" which is more of a suite. A 19ft x 19ft opulent bedroom with beautiful large stone fireplace housing a pre laid multifuel stove with snug fireside chairs in the sitting area. A well stocked log basket and candles galore set a cosy ambience. Furnishings are in keeping with the property with every consideration given to those provided by bigger hotel chains, freebies tv, fridge (stocked), refreshments (white & red wine, bottle port).
The 5 piece bathroom is dominated by the vast stone bath in front of the picture window offer stunning views across the countryside. It may take half and hour to fill but stayed lovely and hot, was so big you could swim in it, easily fits 2 people. If I were to be picky, I'd say the bathroom lacked warmth with its cold stone floor (no under heating) and walls of the same. The radiator tepid in warmth.
The jewel of the room being the magnificent four poster bed which was every bit as comfortable as it appeared. It was a lovely touch to find a box of luxury chocolates on the bed.
A beautifully cooked breakfast the next day really does make this worth every penny to stay here at Peel Castle.
