We arrived for dinner on a Friday evening and asked if they had a table it was approx 6.00pm we were told by one of the barmaids yes but we were told we had to eat and let them have the table back in an hour no problem was our reply. There was only another couple in the bar at this time and they returned back to their rooms, we were half way through our dinner when 3 gentlemen arrived who were locals and the same barmaid who had spoken to us not in a freindly way quite an arrogant manner asked them if they wanted to eat and let them have the table where the residents had been sitting no rush for them? the proprietor who just seemed to glare over his glass's no hello or even a smile we spent £63.00 in less than one hour. My son and his wife were joining us on the Sunday so we thought we would give it another go and booked a table for the lunch 4 adults and 2 very well behaved children again were served abruptly and again no smile no hello and the proprietor glaring away it does mention on the menu's don't ask for vinegar as it spoils the beer well the reason they don't have vinager is that the Landlord has drunken it all, and the food it was okay nothing special considering our Sunday lunch cost £160.00 one course with wine and drinks in my opinion save your money and drive 3 miles up the road to Pickering the White Swan great food and nice staff who really are pleased to see you.

Room Tip: We did not stay here but l can not clear the sleep quality button.

The content of this review is so inaccurate that I feel the reviewer has the wrong pub.
Sunday Lunch for 4 adults and 2 children would range from £55 to £64.Did they spend £100 on drinks!
Early supper is £8.75 per person - again, did they spend £45 on drink.
There is nowhere that says we do not serve vinegar.
We pride ourselves with our efficient, friendly staff - see previous reviews.
Character asassination is amusing to some but not constructive critism.

Loved the Fox and Hounds. Excellent food, reasonably priced and very well cooked and presented. Our rooms were extremely comfortable and spacious. Breakfast plentiful and freshly cooked. Excellent coffee. All the little extras just added to our enjoyment of our short stay. Very good hosts and staff, very welcoming, attentive but not intrusive. Sinnington is a peaceful pretty village and we enjoyed paddling in the river. Lovely pub with well kept ales. The only small negative was no mobile signal but in some ways that was a positive! We would recommend the Fox and Hounds and will certainly return!

Room Tip: We had a room on the front upstairs and one downstairs at the back. Did not hear any noise whatsoeve...

My husband and I were booked at the Fox & Hounds for two nights in June. Our room was very comfortable, the food was very good, and the management and staff very friendly and efficient. The innkeeper offered to wash and dry our very muddy hiking pants for free! We felt very cared for. Highly recommend this wonderful country inn.

This hotel just keeps improving, and judging by the numbers who come on all nights of the week our observations are shared by many. Eating in the bar or restaurant is equally pleasant. The service is good even with the number of people who have not made a reservation ordering food. Ask at reception if any large groups have booked in- it may then be better to eat in either of the two bars. The staff are very polite and efficient. The little complementary extras are well received- olives and dips along with chocolates served with the coffee. A wide and varied menu with something to suit all tastes. The food is expertly presented. The bedrooms are cosy and we disagree with a past review- the noise is not a problem from the bar even with a room on the ground floor ( room 10).

Room Tip: Book well in advance

What a fantastic blend of excellent food, sensible prices, calm atmosphere and good beer/wine.

Our group had a range of courses and different selections, all of which were cooked and presented to a Michelin Star standard. Even the humble vegetables could not have been better.

The duo of lamb requires a special mention, with the shoulder element of the dish being the best I have ever tasted - almost bought a tear to my eye!!

Service was attentive but not intrusive.

One couple from our party immediately booked for later in the week.

Despite the wide range of alternatives in that area, this definitely will be an automatic re-visit.

We only stayed one night and it was fine, but we had just left a really good B&B so it had a lot to live up to. We had a room on the ground floor (no 8) and we could hear a lot of noise from the bar next door, maybe upstairs would be better. There is nothing bad to say about this inn, but it wasn’t fantastic – and it was expensive even after getting £20 knocked off. The breakfast was of a good standard. We didn't have an evening meal here, but the menu looked good.

Room Tip: Make sure you can't hear the bar from your room.

We ate in the bar which looked nicer than the restaurant. The service was very friendly. The value for money was good and the food was excellent.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
This attractive 18th-Century former coaching inn in one of the prettiest villages in North Yorkshire offers a warm welcome the minute you arrive. A little loop road just off the A170 Helmsley to Pickering road on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors, Sinnington has everything a classic English village should; a maypole, a village green, a 12th century church and ducks feeding on the beck that gently winds its way through the village. There are pretty riverside and woodland walks nearby. Its cosy bar, open fire and hanging hops deliver a rustic and relaxing atmosphere. There's also a contemporary restaurant that boasts oak tables and attractive lighting - ideal for those looking for that slightly more intimate affair. But wherever you choose to sit, you can be assured of a delicious meal. This is a destination for people who enjoy good food cooked well. The three chefs source many of their ingredients locally, making the most of the area's fine meats and fish and home grown vegetables and herbs. The meat is supplied by BW & DJ Glaves of Brompton by Sawdon, Scarborough and all the fish is delivered daily from the east coast. The inn has an AA rosette awarded for culinary excellence which has been maintained for the past 15 years. Typical dishes such as a twice baked Lincolnshire poacher cheese souffle and a platter of fish cakes, little fish and chips, king scallop, salmon and aspargus salad are popular throughout the year. Other options include a Roast breast and leg of Guinea Fowl, sage crushed potato, asparagus and oyster mushroom cream or confit Duck Leg, chorizo, roast pepper and pea risotto, orange and watercress salad. Chefs specials are also offered for both lunch and dinner. Lighter lunches and an early evening supper menu are also offered daily such as a chargrilled minute steak, fries, pepper sauce and salad or onion rings or roast belly pork and black pudding, chive mash, apple sauce and crackling .All puddings are homemade and if you're struggling to decide what to choose, there is an assiette of puddings that has a little bit of everything - puddings change on a daily basis.Fresh bread is baked every morning and the chefs like to try different ingredients for evening dinners complimentary bread and olive. Flavours have included parmesan and chive or chorizo and sun dried tomato. Sundays bring traditional roasts with a range of different options - including beef, pork and lamb served with a Yorkshire Pudding and also a fish and a vegetarian dish. Accommodation is available all year round, and has been awarded 4 Stars from the English Tourism Council. ... more   less
