My friend and I arrived at the venue rather early and were promplty greeted by Liz, Joe, Ryan and Muse (the family dog). Instantly I felt at home. Rather than waiting for another small group that had not arrived yet the son, Ryan, took us on a tour of the vineyard sharing some of his vast knowledge and obvious passion for wine making. We were allowed to taste some of the new wines still in the gigatic steel vats and then moved to the cellar to taste a some of the wine that had been moved to the wooden barrels in the cellar.

After the tour we then began tasting a sample of their bottled wines whislt chatting away about the wines and the region. We had booked in for dinner, cooked by Liz, but what we got was more like a banquet. By the end of the meal it felt like I had visited an old family friend for dinner and could have quite happily have sat there for hours.

Simply one of the best things I have ever experienced. Can not wait to book a return visit!

What an experience. Arrived to the Vineyard and notificed that the carpark was empty - we were only 10 mins late but were thinking that we had missed the tour!! We were however wrong and were introduced to Joe and his parents with them explaining that everyone is late and only 10 mins is actually early (France time). We were delighted to find that it was actually a private tour. First we enjoyed a 2 hour tour with the winemaker tasting the wine out of the steel barrels and walking through the Vineyard inspecting the Vines. Then we relaxed in the cellar and tasted some fine wine out of the wooden barrels. We returned to the house, where lunch was served. Wow - what a lunch. (do not attend if you have to drive home - get a taxi) It was advertised as a 4 course lunch, however i swear i counted 6! (maybe that was the wine)
Liz is an amazing cook - We commented on why dont you advertise the food on the website - the reply from Joe and his father - its not about the food, its about the wine...!!
We sat down at 12noon, and was told that we were in for a French style lunch - what ever that meant.? We left around 17:30 - If you like your wine, and fine food this place is a must. We will of course visit again...O'yes.

My wife and I have done a fair bit of wine tasting, yet its easy for me to say this was the best day out at a vineyard we've ever had. I e-mailed Ryan at O'Vineyards the day before we planned to visit to ask whether they'd be available to show us around. It was harvest time so I was a bit worried they'd be too busy bringing the grapes in. Not to worry, Ryan's mom (its a family operation run by Ryan and his parents, Joe and Liz) E-mailed within a few hours to let me know they would be happy to have us and that the wine tasting involved a five course homemade lunch! That on its own sold me even before I had a drop of wine.

We arrived around 12.30 and were greeted by their dog Muse. Joe was just finishing putting a load of grapes into the de-stemmer, so Liz talked us through the first few stages of the wine making process as we tasted their cabernet sauvignon, syrah and merlot at different stages in the maturation process. Thereafter Joe took over and walked us through the cellar where he has assembled a collection of different types of oak barrels to help refine the wine.

After chatting for a while and sampling some more wine, my wife and I headed up stairs to see Liz, who was putting the finishing touches on the five course lunch I mentioned earlier. Liz invited us to open a couple more bottles -- four to be exact -- of wine from various vintages and grapes including an '05 Syrah from their first harvest and the fabulous reserve. We sat and chatted for a while, with Liz talking about her son Ryan and his passion for wine (Ryan wasn't there because he was traveling back from a dinner at Chateau Margaux the evening before).

Lunch proper was a fabulous affair. I won't go into the details, but safe to say Liz is a great cook, and Joe is a great host as well, always making sure we had a full glass. After dessert and some more wine we went for a walk in the vineyards, with Muse more than happy to be our guide.

Five hours after we arrived, with a half case of wine safely packed for the flight home (plus one for Saturday evening -- thanks Liz), we said our goodbyes and headed back to the hotel to reflect on an absolutely fabulous day, enjoying some great wine with an engaging couple living out their dream.

This vineyard is located around 15mins from Carcassone. The owners Liz and Joe were so friendly and inviting. From the moment we arrived we were greeted with smiles and friendliness. While Joe gave us an excellent tour of the vineyard explaining the process and of course giving us lots of samples, Liz was busy upstairs preparing our delicious lunch!
All during the day our glasses were kept topped up. As for the wine this was superb. Currently they are only producing red wine and doing a real good job too! We arrived at 11 and didnt leave until the evening, its such a nice place you dont want to leave, just sipping the great wine looking out at the vineyard is just heaven!
I'd recommend getting a taxi (only about 14euro from Carrcassonne) as you wont be leaving sober!
A big thank you to Liz and Joe, hopefully I will return again one day!
