We had to stay in the shared dorm beds which were $10 per person, or $20 for a couple....this is the same price as a double private room for 2 people, which would have been much better but they were full. Dorms should be cheaper than this...most expensive anywhere in Nicaragua. Also, the food at the restaurant was average but expensive. We were told we could rent bikes but then when we tried to do so at 11 am were told they were all taken, had to go find a place on the street to rent them. They didn't even tell us where exactly, had to ask some locals on the street who pointed out exactly where we could rent bikes. Also any time we tried to ask questions or for help the staff was extremely cold and not very helpful, giving minimum responses, one-word answers etc. Also wished there had been a shared kitchen and cables to plug in laptops in the restaurant area where the wifi was. Would recommend Monkey's Island instead...much better value and better service. The location is the only good thing about this place.

Room Tip: go for a double if you can...same price as 2 people in the dorms, more privacy and security.

This place is conveniently located a short walk from the beach and not too far from the road, no need to drag your backpack uphill for a kilometre or more....
Staff is friendly, service in the restaurant isn't the quickest, a bit slower than elsewhere on the island. Food is very nice.
They arranged a guide to climb Maderas and a motorcycle to explore the rest of the island.
Major drawback to this side of the island (not just the hotel) are the tiny, non stinging flies that flock around.
Major drawback to our room was that there were mice between our ceiling and the roof. Didn't see them in the room and food remained untouched, but you might want to bring earplugs :-)

We stayed here for 5 days and had a great time. We didn't even know about this place since it's not really advertised. All the other hostels we knew about were full, so we were forced to look for alternatives and happend to sumble over this place. It's locally run by brothers who worked on it for 3 years till they were confident enought it's up to their expectations. Rooms are nice and clean, doorms start from 7$. Some have a bathroom inside which i personally dislike. They got great plans for the future, like adding a second story to the comon area and moving it to a different place with better view. Best part about the hostel is the food. Although it sometimes takes a while to get your order it's well worth the wait. Portions are huge and the prices were suprisingly cheap (most dishes are around 100-130 C$).Quality is amazing. If you're looking for a party you're just 2 minutes walk away from little morgans, so it's easy to stay here and still enjoy the benefits other places have to offer. Only noticable downside for some is the lack of proper english speaking staff. If you speak Spanish they are supernice and helpful, and even if you don't they try their best with what they know. Overall great stay and totally recommended

We were staying just up the road at El Encanto (a nice chilled place but a little too quiet for more than a day or 2) so came down to Santa Cruz a couple of times for a few drinks and food. A really nice group of people with some good simple food and cold beer...what more do you need!
