Paradise does exist! beautiful Cook Islands! still unspoilt by western commercialism. the Edgewater at first sight seems a little outdated BUT once ensconced in our upgraded suite the place became everything we had wanted. wonderful friendly staff who couldn't do enough for you. the Edgewater is close to several other eateries(within walking distance) all fabulous! the bus (clockwise and anticlockwise) provide an excellent service if you don't hire a car or bike.

can't wait till we can return.

Room Tip: the vip suites are big and the view over looking the lagoon is stunning

Not a great place to stay if you need sleep. We stayed in a garden villa and a garden room and were exposed to dogs barking, bad karaoke, local party noise, a fight, noisy staff and unwelcome phone calls, weed whackers, construction noise and worst of all the ROOSTERS going at all hours. Not exactly restful. Otherwise is average and in need of some TLC. Wet tile paths are treacherous. Staff were nice.

The room was basic and a little tired. Staff need to be coached on customer service.
It is a laid back holiday where we read, snorkeled and rested which is what we needed.
I was disappointed that the island night had a western carvery and next to no tropical fruit available.
If I went to the cook island again I would stay at the Edgewater but I think it unlikely I would visit again

Room Tip: ask for upgrade to beach front not pool fronting

We didn't stay at Edgewater, but we went there twice for events linked to a wedding. The first was the 'Island Night.' It was a vey expensive waste of money. Cocktails and other bar prices at Edgewater are off the wall--50% higher than elsewhere! The island feast was, overall, pretty mediocre. Rukau (taro leaves cooked in coconut cream) was nice, ika mata (raw fisk) was good, and so was taro. The salads were very average and the fish was over cooked. Meat too was overcooked. Chicken was very greasy. The island dance show was only so so. The dancers are obviously very good, but the stage is so small they had constrain their dancing. The MC was fairly average as well. We returned for the wedding and, because of a change in time, ending up eating a snack. Surprise, surprise, the toasted paninis, served with a nice bowl of fruit, were quite nice. If I had been judging the food on them alone, I'd have rated it 3.5 rather than 3. Tip 1: If you intend to stay here on an attractive 'package,' make sure you self cater or eat out. Tip 2. Every bus comes through the hotel, it has it's own stop, so you can explore the island rather than get stuck at Edgewater. There is no need to rent cars or bikes, the buses are great.

We had 8 nights at the Edgewater, we had a room that overlooked the pool and the lagoon beautiful views. The room was basic and a little tired, We did find it to be a little noisy especially on the night of wedding receptions. ( handy hint ask for a lagoon view room) The resort has a daily bulletin with what is happening very handy and we attended the orientation session and found this very helpful and Agnas was very entertaining. Food at the restaurants was very good and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good. The Edgewater caters well for families with the kids club. The snorkeling in the lagoon was amazing and you can borrow snorkeling gear, reef shoes etc from the resort. We hired a car from the hire centre within the resort this made it easy to get around the island. The Island bus stops at the Edgewater so if you don't want to hire a vehicle you can get around the island on either the clockwork or anti clockwork bus.

Room Tip: Ask for a lagoon room

My husband and I decided to stay for 8 nights at the Edgewater after reading tripadvisor . We up graded to a lagoon view room before we left and pleased we did our room was 404 on the second floor the view was amazing and was the sunsets, the room was fine the pillows were a bit old but it had everything we needed. Rooms were serviced daily and the cleaners were very helpful.
Breakfast meals were fine and the evening meals ok only had one meal there thou. Enjoyed the crab racing. It was nice to be back on this side of the island in late afternoon to catch all the sun and no wind. We took our own snorkels pleased we did as they sometimes run out and you have to return in 2 hours. Didn't like we couldn't get late check even thou flight centre said we could (read the fine print ) we did get a day room to shower before we left to fly home and it was great that the staff check all your flights the day before you leave.

Room Tip: Lagoon rooms or beachfront deluxe for the views and the sunsets can be a little noisy with the waves...
