I would stay there again on my next visit to Rarotonga.
Cheers: William

I loved my stay at the Edgewater Raratonga. They made life as easy as possible for my friend and her new husband, after all , it was their wedding we were all there for! The venue was great (and the weather) and we just loved Island Night. The staff were absolutely fantastic, especially the activities coordinator who had a game of tennis with me through to the bar staff - especially the bar and serving staff. They were absolutely fabulous. Absolutely fabulous. Absolutely fabulous. The apartments were divine. Did I mention the staff were absolutely fabulous? And the cocktails, good value... recommend the Shark Bite :)

We travelled to the edgewater for our wedding and had the best time ever. Our group of family and friends who went with us are raving about their holiday and cant wait to return. Our rooms were beachfront delux, Beachfront villa and beachfront room and all were clean, comfy and cool.

The wedding was held on the beach and under the palms. A perfect romantic spot all organised by Heather the wedding planner with special thanks to Ani Piri our celebrant. It was everything we had hoped for. A stress free occasion where all we had to worry about was turning up dressed and ready to say "I do". We had a wonderful string band who entertained our guests while we had our photos done. Our reception was held in the umu huts which was awesome. We had our party next to the ocean with the moonlight right there.

The staff at the edgewater were amazing. So proud and happy to do everything they can to make your holiday there unforgettable. I would definitely recommend the edgewater as it was reasonably priced and had all the facilities you would need to cater for the whole family. Toddlers/teenagers and adults. We will definitely be back.

The Edgewater treated us so well during our 8 day stay.

The staff were so kind to our children, which means alot when you are travelling with small children. The children's meals were huge and excellent value. We found all the food excellent value at both resturants. Breakfast was better than we expected.
Cocktail hour at 5pm was a favourite with just about everyone we travelled with!

We got married at the Edgewater and Heather and her staff did a wonderful job for us. Everything was how we wanted it. They were relaxed, organised and helped make our day the most special of our lives (after the birth of our children of course!!). The tropical flowers, the beach, the sea and the palm trees looked amazing in our photos. Having my hair, make up and nails done at the Spa was worth it. Chanel made me look amazing - and so young!

We had about 30 people at our wedding, most having travelled from New Zealand and many staying at the Edgewater. The different types of accommodation was a big help. With the deals for flights and accommodation this helped a few people who might not have been able to come, afford the trip. We were in a VIP beachfront room, which was wonderful. I still miss the sound of the sea outside my window!. Loved the air com and fan a lot!!

We would recommend the Edgewater to anyone, especially if you are travelling with small children and want a place they can also have fun. The pool was popular will all ages and it well placed by the beach and next to the bar and resturant. I am not sure there are many, if any, other places in Rarotonga that everything to so well placed. There were also plenty of activites you could take part in if you wanted to - children and adults. Due to its age, it is not the flashest resort on the island, but it has everything you need and the staff are so friendly and helpful. The new villas are really nice and are good value if you are travelling with a group.

We loved Rarotonga and we had a wonderful experience at the Edgewater. We are planning to stay there again next time we visit.

After specific instructions prior to arriving in Rarotonga that we would like a room close to our friends room who travelled with us, we found we were on separate ends of the resort, our friends were moved closer, but room had ants all over the bed, mould in the bathroom, and constant drips outside. Our room was slightly better.
The whole resort is tired and in need of serious painting and maintenance. The staff generally were not friendly, we found 2 staff were great, but really expected the standard of service to be much higher.
The reception staff were particularly unhelpful and abrupt. The Day spa were also not helpful and staff didnt seem to know how to book an appointment.
We were not expecting luxury, but this was very dissapointing and we will not be returning to the Edgewater.

We stayed here for a week in June 2009 and got a great rate, much cheaper than anywhere else, through Air NZ Holidays. I think the reason for a lot of the negative reviews on here are due to expectations being wrong before arrival. this is not a luxury hotel by any means, it is an average three star resort (think med package holidays in terms of facilities) in a n exotic location. Good choice of food and dricks around the resort, the little italian place at the bottom of the drive was fantastic, service left a bit to be desired but the food was so much better than it look sform the outside! The staff in the main restaurant/pool area were always really friendly but never intrusive. Nice little pool if al ittle chilly in June. Beach very picturesque but can be alittle sore to walk on because of all the coral fragments. Be prepared to put up with a lot of insects, it is a tropical island after all and dont think the ants (many of them!) necessarily mean por hygiene , they're just very prevalent! I believe someone told me that Air NZ overnight their crew at the Edgewater which was one of the things that kept me from cancelling after being scared off by a lot of dody reviews on TA, if it's good enough for the airline then its usually good enough for me! So dont expect luxury, realise that the Cooksare very "rustic" in many aspects and you'll have a great time. Wonderful place. Do the church excursion on the sunday btw,we were going to give it a miss as it sounded really cheesy but it was one of the highlights of our trip! Also the round theisland flight with Air Raro is fantastic and very reasonably priced, only $90pp if i remember correctly, that was the peak of our experience, much better than cultural markets etc!

If you do decide to stay at the Edgewater make sure that you lock your luggage. We left our hotel room for the day locked and came back to find that our I-Pod and cash had been stolen. the hotel staff were not interested in trying to find this for us and the attiitude of security was disappointing. We were then singled out as the people accussing staff as stealing. Go figure.
