Wonderful experience for husbands 60th

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 10 Jun 2017
On arrival at Crown Resort we were welcome warmly with a refreshment and shown to our beachfront suite #4, just beautiful with great views and sunsets, not far from restaurant, bar and activities hut. We were very pleased with all the service we received and invited friends that were staying at other resorts to join us at Oceans restaurant on the Sunday night to celebrate my husbands birthday, the staff were great and everyone enjoyed themselves and the meal and cake. Our only regret was that we did not attend the Island night and went elsewhere with friends. I think if we had of been in Raro alone we would have spent more nights at Oceans. Make the most of the activities hut which has many different things happening. Lastly we found all the the staff helpful and cheerful. We enjoyed the location just ten minutes from town by scooter, hired at the resort. Enjoy

We recently spent seven nights at this very pleasant resort. The location is great, our one bedroom villa was well presented (if not "wow" in decoration, but it's an island break after all) and was well looked after by a cheerful and thorough team. The resort itself seemed slightly tired but is very well maintained on a daily basis by the team.

We had initially been concerned that being by the pool would be a little noisy but it was lovely and quiet except for the island night when poolside was a bit of an "off stage" setting for the entertainers - but that was fun and it finished at a very reasonable time, so no worries.

Oceans restaurant was nice. Breakfast was fine, the hot items weren't always to our taste but the continental selection was very good. Service was great, both within the restaurant and in the greater garden/bar area. Our only issue was a couple of mixups between table number and room number, but our feedback was very gracefully received by Noni, who is a real asset to this property. We sincerely hope her thoughts on the matter are well received by management.

It was very nice to have a guest laundry and a library - I enjoyed a book someone had left and added to the shelves when we left.

There are too many amazing people on staff to name and we know we would leave people out, so just - many, many thanks to the team for looking after us for and remembering us by name which was much appreciated.

Had an amazing experience here for my thirtieth birthday. Spa and massage in the morning which was amazing! Followed on by cocktails beachside. We then came back in the evening for a sunset dinner in the private hut on the beach. A HUGE Thank you to Leilani for helping my partner (and now fiancé) organise the most amazing night here, where he surprised me by proposing! It was so beautiful and I will never forget it! Best night of my life so far and so wonderful to have experienced it in such a beautiful place! I can't wait to come back!! Thank you again!

we (me and my spouse) recently stayed at the Crown Beach resort for a week in mid May 2017. We arrived early in the morning in a van along with 2 other couples. In order to check in, it is required to pay $150 NZ even our bungalow is ready. We understand this issue. So the only person at the desk took care of the other 2 couples and at the end the front desk person lumped us to the end of the orientation. We missed the first part.We went exploring the islands and came back about 10 minutes before the check in time. The same person from the morning refused to let us check in. But another person came to us and take us to our bungalow. We reserve a beach front one bed room villa. A kettle and a plunger for making coffee were missing in the room. After our request, we received a kettle with black lime deposit in the bottom that we have to clean it. Later that evening after another request we get the plunger (coffee press). The next day after we returned from the beach we found out the the plunger is missing. we received the plunger after 3 trip to the desk to request. I was told that this is the last plunger. The next morning before leaving our bungalow, i wrote a note pleading not removing the plunger. I don't have to worry for this situation since no one come to our bungalow service for 3 days. After talking to the manager early in the morning when I saw her in the restaurant at the breakfast, I thought someone will come to service the bungalow. But, no, no one came. I have to walk to the desk in the evening to request change of tower and service. Luckily the general manager were there that night to send people to serve our bungalow.
On a positive note most of the crew in the Ocean restaurant are courteous, nice and every helpful, specially Donna, Atuika, Kali. The ground crews, as well as the crew from the hut activities are very pleasant and friendly. Our beach front bungalow is very spacious nd clean on arrival. The bathroom is large.
The best place to snorkel is to walk along the beach toward the airport direction, passing Edge Water Resort to the Black Rock and passing black rock where the water is calm. Snorkeling in front of the resort is good too but more choppy.

Room tip: Beach front villa 3 or 4 (direct view). # 2 beach view slightly slant

Kia Orana trataz,

Thank you for taking the time to post your report regarding your stay with us at the Crown Beach Resort and Spa.

Although we naturally delight in receiving compliments, we also sincerely appreciate our Guests informing us of when our services and / or product falls short of their expectations. As we are always striving to improve our standards, less positive comments provide a valuable tool of reference during our Departmental Meetings and Staff Training Sessions. Your contribution is therefore appreciated.

We have taken the liberty of responding to your Comments posted;

 In order to check in, it is required to pay $150 NZ even our bungalow is ready. We understand this issue. So the only person at the desk took care of the other 2 couples and at the end the front desk person lumped us to the end of the orientation. We missed the first part.

We apologize for the misunderstanding. Our staff member was merely trying to get the other clients into their room so she would have been able to work on getting you your accommodation which may have taken a little while and may cause other guests waiting to get impatient. We sincerely apologise and have taken this as a learning point for future arrivals

 We went exploring the islands and came back about 10 minutes before the check in time. The same person from the morning refused to let us check in. But another person came to us and take us to our bungalow.

We are pleased that you eventually got into your bungalow and will use points made here to assist with our Front Office training schedules as we endeavour to improve on our guest satisfaction.

Our Executive Housekeeper has raised the plunger issue with her respective team and sincerely apologises for the confusion. As always, any notes made will be used as training collateral for the housekeeping team.

We can assure you that this matter has been seriously addressed with our team as we sincerely apologise for the villa not been cleaned. Our General Manager has personally attended to this issue to ensure that this does not happen again.

We are glad that you experience Rarotonga’s beautiful snorkelling. The resort is closely working with traditional landowners to implement a “traditional marine reserve” in its efforts to ensure the continuity of the fish and marine life in our lagoon.

Thank you again for your report, and we have taken lessons learnt and implemented in our Service and Maintenance routines.

We had 5 nights in a Courtyard Pool Suite which was just perfect and I'd recommend people upgrade to these villas. There is plenty of privacy and you have your own private pool. The food and drinks at the resort are really affordable and the staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome. 5 nights was not enough and we will definitely be back. Thank you!

Went last year for the first time to any of the Islands, went with sister and a group of 15.
Liked it so much decided to surprise my husband with a 6 day holiday a year later, as thought he would love the experience of it to.

This time we stayed at The Crown Resort, which is for no children under16.
We had the pool suite which is great, just like the photos.
Clean, big and private.

The staff are all lovely. The two restaurants on site are great to.
We hired a soft top car for the time we were there, to get around, the hotel reception organised it for us when there.

Trader Jacks on the water front in town is worth a visit for lunch, also we went to Black Rock cafe which is great to.

Tamas Lagoon Cruise is worth a try.
Rarotonga is a great Culture Experience, and we will be back again for the 3rd year in a row for a friends wedding next year.

Also a great place to take children, a lot of families also there.
Last year we stayed at Edgewater Resort which is more for families.

The flight there is about 4 hours, and a nice trip.
Also very warm, and hot there.

Hope this info helps with your trip.

Shazza.

Room tip: Pool Suites have very private courtyard with pool, and seating, very very private out of all the suites.
