Highly recommend this as a place to stay. Staff very friendly and helpful and nothing was to much trouble.Bungalows are very attractive and loved the outside bath. Very quite location and although not the best swimming in the lagoon a few minutes to other fabulous swimming spots and for those who don't like the ocean they have a lovely swimming pool.

Rarotonga has a lot of accommodation to choose from and if you have not stayed before it is difficult to pick from the choice. However being our second visit we had a good idea what we were looking for and Magic Reef was it.

Very quite, peaceful tranquil location.
Bungalows far exceeded our expectations. Very spacious, clean and every need catered for. The small details really showed which you do not find in other accommodation at this price. We fell in love with the outside Shower and Bath which is set in a very private, tiled area on back of bungalow. Huge shower head which gave you the most amazing shower. Beds large comfortable and romantic. Kitchen very clean, tidy and everything we needed.

The outside area is immaculate and the pool amazing. Normally hotel pools do not appeal but this one was very clean and inviting espeically if you have been down on the beach. The snokelling and swimming is limited outside the magic reef but you only need to move up the beach or jump on to your moped and their are plenty of other areas.

Big thank you to Grace and Cathy who were fantastic together with the housekeeping staff always very warm and friendly.

Plenty of restuarants in walking distance for dinner. Waterline next door was a really lovely place to eat and drink, great for cocktails at sunset.

Congratulations to the owners you have created a special place in Magic Reef and we will be back. The reviews say it all so to anyone reading this they are all very truthfully written.

Room Tip: As closse to beach as possible although we were 5 bungalows back near pool and that was absolutely perfect for us as there was a deck outside each bungalow to sit on and we were right by the pool.

We spent 7 nights at the Magic Reef in an absolute beachfront bungalow. The staff from the resort collected us from the airport and made our stay as relaxing as possible by assisting with bookings for restaurants and providing us with info and tips to make our stay in Raro (as the locals call it!) the best possible.

The resort may be small but it more than makes up for it in its location and facilities! Our bungalow as the name suggested was right on the beach and we weren't overlooked by any other bungalows. We had an outdoor bath and shower which is a lovely touch - there is something very nice about showering under the stars! We had a nice comfy king bed, seating area and small kitchen with fridge and a private deck with sunloungers. Our first mornings breakfast was in the fridge waiting for us and there are plenty of supermarkets and little shops around the island to stock up on essentials for the rest of your stay as the resort has no restaurant. There is a small shop about 100m away which was very handy, as is the nearest restaurant.

The resort had the quirkiest pool I have ever seen and was very refreshing - in the shape of a ship! The sea was a bit rough for swimming during our stay sadly but I was able to dip my toes in to cool off! The sunsets were out of this world and every evening we sat on our deck or on the beach with sundowners!

We hired a car for a few days which meant we were able to get round the island and explore. We used the car to grab lunches and to eat out in the evening although a couple of the restaurants will come and collect you if you book by a certain time. The Kikau Hut was one of them and we ate there twice - but that was because of the great staff, great food and great entertainment and not the collection service!!

The staff the Magic Reef were all so helpful and friendly and helped make our stay really special. Great value for money and we really hope to be able to return one day soon!

Thank you x

Room Tip: All rooms have beach views but the absolute beachfront bungalows are right on the beach and not overlooked!

If you are looking for a place to completely relax then this place is for you. The bungalows have everything you can ask for and are spacious and clean. We thought the resort was very good value for money. The only thing it probably lacked was the atmosphere of some other resorts due to their being no restaurant on site but if you hire a scooter there is plenty of choice close by. The beach isn't great for swimming but you can go to plenty of others close by. If you're wanting peace and quiet (apart from the roosters next door) you've got a winner.

We booked our holiday at Magic Reef because our daughter had arranged for her marriage to take place there. Magic doesn't describe the location – I would call it superb!
The wedding setting was in the gazebo on the beach front and the staff paid every attention to detail in decorating the location and serving the canapés and drinks. The gardener even raked the beach to remove debris and smooth the sand. The whole event ran like clockwork and everyone had a really enjoyable time.
The bungalows themselves were well appointed and the garden was well laid out, with each bungalow enjoying a degree of privacy as they were angled toward the beach.
The only downside was the rather poorly lit bathroom and the lack of a full-length mirror, but that is the only criticism.
The resort is child-free and consequently very quiet – apart from the roosters in adjoining properties, who took it upon themselves to start crowing at any time of night.
The staff were very hard working and kept the rooms spotless. There was food provided in the fridge for us to have breakfast on the first morning. There is a corner shop just a short walk down the road. The TV has only one channel, but there is a DVD player and reception has a selection of DVD's for loan.
A large gas-fired barbecue is provided but located in a lowered area in front of the pool. We hauled it out and wheeled it down to the gazebo, where we held a barbecue and watched the spectacular sunset.
The sea at the location is not good for swimming being very shallow and rocky. A short scooter ride down the road to Muri gives you access to a better location for swimming and snorkelling.
A possible future concern is that the government is building a jetty for cruise ships to offload passengers, just a short way down the beach. The was still a work in progress with some construction traffic with an excavator digging a channel and using the excavated material to build the jetty. The reef had also been breached to allow access for the launches.

Room Tip: Obviously, the closer to the beach the better!
