We spend three restful nights with my family at Rosedale. Both Keith and Mama Ndumi were the perfect hosts. We had the most scrumptious breakfast with freshly squeezed orange juice. Keith gave us the tour of the farm and my daughter enjoyed every single minute of it. We will definitely be back. Siyabulela

Keith and Miso bent over backwards to make our stay as rewarding and trouble-free as possible. The lovely home-cooked breakfast was officially over by 8.30, but our teenagers were challenged by that "early" wake-up call, and rolled up quite late every day. They still got the cooked breakfast! Keith gave us a tour of the farm, and even graciously consented to being interviewed (on camera!) for our son's geography project (see: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QSHCuOMr6nU). The gardens that the thatched cottages are set in are gorgeous, and the natural swimming pond (see photo) a sure fire draw for hotter days. The only minor criticism is that the cottage interiors were a little dark and smelt slightly musty.

We spent 2 nights at the Rosedale Organic Farm B&B. It was a .delight to stay with Keith ( who opened our eyes to organic farming) and Nondumiso the charming maker of good fresh baked bead to go with her great breakfasts. Both were very helpful with local restaurants and other local advice. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with them and would highly recommend a stay with them.

On our trip through South Africa we stayed 2 night at Rosedale.

At our arrival Keith showed us around (and our cottage). He also supplied us with information about the restaurants in the area and things to do (besides Addo Elephant Park). There is also a map with plenty of information in the cottage. The interior of the clean cottage is basic but you have all you need at hand. The cottages are situated in the garden. Furthermore there is (not for a very long time) a nature swimming pool. Parking is secured.

That same night - when we came back from the restaurant - it was terrible weather (heavy storm and rain). This made the cottage feel real cosy. On the second night the wind and rain where gone and then it was really quite and peaceful. People who wish can sit down and relax around a campfire made by Keith. (Of course the wood is from a organic origin).

Breakfast was very good and Miso who takes care of the breakfast gives personal and warm attention to the guests. The breakfast is made out of organic food for as much as possible and it tastes great !

Due to the bad weather visiting Addo was not recommendable because the animals where hiding out in the bush. Instead we went to Daniels Cheetah Breeding Center. We experienced this as a nice alternative to the Elephant Park.

We spent two nights at Rosedale organic farm, our eighth hotel on a three-week tour of South Africa. Travelling east to west, this was our last stop in the Eastern Cape, and there was a dramatic improvement in the weather. If driving from the east, I strongly suggest that you approach Addo via the R335. The part of the R342 between the N2 and Paterson is an extremely poorly surfaced road.

The site is easy to find. The farmhouse is separated from a number of semi-detached holiday lets - and a stand-alone guest kitchen - by a garden dominated by a giant jacaranda. The Rosedale website (rosedalebnb.co.za) has recently been upgraded and gives a very fair picture of the location and accommodation. For UK readers, Keith Finnemore was to us a look- and sound-alike for Channel 4 television newsman, Jon Snow. Keith is the organic citrus farmer, and Miso looks after the guest catering and accommodation.

On our first evening we shared a braai with some Dutch visitors. On our second, we cooked a meal in the guest kitchen facility. This we found adequate, the major drawback being the absence of adequate ventilation, which we pointed out to Keith. Our cottage was spacious, clean and cosy, and we slept well. Breakfasts were great. We felt Rosedale was very good value for money.

This is particularly evident when you consider that the entrance to Addo Elephant Park is right on your doorstep. Compared with our earlier experiences at Kruger and Ithala, we found Addo a little over-commercialised and disappointing. I can understand why coaches are allowed, but they still seem to me a little out of place in a nature reserve. Nonetheless, Addo is a very pleasant place to spend a day, and Rosedale an ideal place to stay nearby.

We loved our relaxing stay at Rosedale, and had a fantastic visit to Addo Elephant Park. The B&B is clean and quiet, and the hosts are very warm and welcoming. We particularly enjoyed the tour of the organic citrus farm with Keith!
