“Delectable organic cuisine in the middle of nowhere!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 July 2014

We had a hard time finding Hazel's at night during our stay in Addo, but we persisted in driving around until we found it and we were rewarded with some of the best food we've ever had. It was so wonderful we ended up eating there two nights in a row. My husband and I are both vegetarian and ordered the vegetable plate both nights, and Hazel prepared for us plates loaded with seven or eight different vegetable dishes (most of which differed from the first night to the second, impressively). Truly, truly delicious. The sweet potato bread and hummus appetizer was mouth-watering, as was the trifle we had for dessert the first night was divine. The second night we opted for their homemade herbal tea instead, which was also a wonderful finish to the meal. Hazel herself came out to talk with us both nights to ensure we were enjoying our meal. Hazel's is a true gem, and a pleasant surprise to find in a rural area.

“Great hospitality, amazing food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 July 2014 via mobile

We rushed into Hazel's organic restaurant with only 20 minutes to spare as we were on our way to a wedding.

We were made to feel very welcome an looked after. The food (my husband had an omelette and I opted for a tomato soup) was out of this world delicious.. Not to mentio the speed in which these delicious organic, healthy home cooked meals were whipped up.

Hazel and her staff prove that healthy 'fast food' is possible and I definitely believe that's the way of the future!

We would definitely go back to support them. Thank you for your hospitality!

“Freshly sumptuous”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 July 2014

We took a chance and arrived for lunch without a reservation but Hazel welcomed us warmly. The menu, with pricing, was clear, well laid out and we thought very reasonably priced. After we ordered, we walked through her wonderful, abundant permaculture vegetable garden where the love and dedication that goes into each plant is clearly apparant - and all of that of course ends up in our food! It was great to see them fetch the fresh produce for our meal straight from the garden and not long after we had a truly sumptuous, fresh, filling, organic meal to enjoy. The ambiance is relaxed.

This is more than a restaurant, it is an experience. If you do not understand the wonderful ethics and principles of permaculture or how expensive it is to grow organically, you may not fully appreciate this unique place.

For us, it was a winner and we will definitely go again and refer people to it.

“Complete Surprise”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 May 2014

Hazel's came highly praised but when we walked in we could have sworn it was a sports bar - no worries though because the food was impeccable! As was the wine selection. Order any of the game dishes and you can't go wrong. Salivating just thinking about the springbok I enjoyed so thoroughly...

“Amazing Food and Amazing People”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 May 2014 via mobile

We had the privilege to eat at Hazel's on our brief trip to Eddo to visit the national park in the area. We stayed at the Aardvark hostel which is connected to the restaurant and boy did we get lucky. Not only was the food amazing but Hazel and her partner Randy have an AMAZING story to go along with their incredible food. We had the privilege of doing a game drive in the national park with Randy (which we would highly recommend) and got to eat at Hazels for lunch and dinner. The game drive was superb and the food was incredible. I would recommend this restaurant to even my friends who hate veggies. The meat is incredible, the veggies are extremely fresh and the service is fantastic. I hope I have the privilege to eat here again.
