“Terrific place to stay”
Reviewed 31 March 2008

Happy Lands was our first night in South Africa and we got the most perfect welcome. Mike and Nita are so friendly - and know what the children want. The kids loved the pool, the lemonade and their little cottage. It's a beautiful home, offering a really warm welcome and some perfect home cooking. I'd highly recommend a stay here.

Mike and Nita must be the friendliest guesthouse owners I have come across. We had driven 450km the day we arrived not to mentioned getting hit in the hire car.
The welcome and lovely home made lemonade were both very refreshing. I had lots of email contact with Mike before we left from UK so it was nice to meet face to face.

Mike and Nita were both knowledgeable about the area and trips available and Mike had pre-booked our game drives for us after supplying me with the information in the UK.

Nita cooked a lovely home cooked meal for us on the day we arrived which was excellent and Mike has a supply of beers and wines.

The house is in a lovely peaceful area which is quiet (Sacred Ibis excepted). Our rom was the Valencia which had a slipper bath and the intrigung outdoor shower which was novel and a lovely experience.

There are only four rooms so Happy Lands is imtimate, there is a pool on the garden which we never had chance to use.

Very good value and close by to the game reserves which cost a fortune to stay at and also Happy Lands feels like a home

Just returned from a wonderful trip to South Africa and stayed three nights with Mike and Nita. Even before we left home Mike was so helpful via e-mail with the many questions we had. We had the garden room and enjoyed beautiful meals on their verandah where it was fun to meet other guests. Truly a great place to stay and highly recommended.

A truely special place.Mike and Nita are the most welcoming people, and Mitch and Tara the most welcoming dogs. From the moment we arrived
we felt at home, nothing was to much trouble to make our stay special. Our room was comfortable, clean and full of character with the added feature of an outdoor shower with modesty rose bush!
The breakfast was more than adequate with a choice of fresh fruits,
muffins, yogurts, eggs, bacon etc. We chose the option of dinner, and Nita excelled on both occaisions presenting us with home cooked South African dishes and of course a bottle of wine. Mike advised us on local attractions and had a wealth of knowledge to help plan our time in the area, he booked a trip for us, which was all part of the service. The setting of this lovely place is so peaceful, with beautiful gardens rolling down from the house, a lily pond, a pool and surrounding citrus trees. Happy Lands is such a fitting name for such an unforgettable place. South African hospitality at its best!

Mike and Nita truly are the kindest, most welcoming and friendly B&B hosts I have ever met. When you stay here, you become part of their family for the day. They have set up the perfect homestay B&B in their beautiful citrus farm house where they have lived for over 25 years. It's only about 20 mins drive from the elephants at Addo. It's a stunning setting, down a bumpy farm track past the lemon and orange trees, to their home with its beautiful gardens and pool, overlooking the mountains. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with a very homey feel, and we had our own garden. We enjoyed a delicious dinner on the verandah, and tasty cooked breakfast in the morning. Nothing was too much trouble and it was a very memorable stay. I would love to go back and can thoroughly recommend this as a stopover before or after a trip to Addo, Port Elizabeth, or for a few days for a peaceful retreat.

We had four wonderful quiet and relaxing days with Nita und Michael as perfect hosts, enjoyed two unforgettable dinners on their wonderful verandah looking on the parklike garden and could be sure that both would be very helpful in each case and question. Thank you again. Joseph & Dorothea

Found this B+B on tRip advisor, looked at website and emailed Nita and Mike and booked direct. We were not dissappointed. It was like going back home. Nita and Mike made us so welcome and the farn is stunning.
Nita has done the rooms out better than a 5 star hotel. we had the Valencia with outdoor shower which was great fun.
She booked a game reserve day for us after ringing run 2or3 that were full and we had a great day out. The 2 nights we were there we had a fantastic 3 course meal with wine on the veranda which was such good value for money less than you would pay for one course in the uk.
Really handy for visiting the elephant park and game reserves but a great place to get away from it all and just chill.
Thanx Nita and Mike.
