“Nestled amid the grapevines”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 May 2013

We wanted a relaxing three day break in the "country" - found a gem in White Dog Farm, booked the Merlot Studio and were just delighted with it! Very peaceful... (bordering on isolated though) nestled among the grape vines and olive groves of the large property which has its own brook. The accommodation was five star level, complete with designer matches to light the scented candles around the corner spa - A lovely property to walk around and see the occasional kangaroo. The kitchenette was beautifully fitted out and well stocked with all the utensils, crockery and cutlery needed to serve up and enjoy the local produce.

We were taken to White Dog Farm for a night with friends of ours as a surprise gift and what a wonderful day and night we all had . Starting with Jo answering the door with a friendly and welcoming smile and showing us our rooms that were presented beautifully with everything you could possibly want , Then off to meet Peter for a bit of wine tasting . These guys have done a fabulous job with everything they have done to perfection, We had our own drinks and , nibbles in the arvo in the outdoor spa and for tea just a short walk with touches supplied to Stringybark Winery , In the morning we woke up to a beautiful home cooked breakfast served by the two of them in the lovely entertainment room , We would recommend any body that wants to go somewhere special to go and enjoy . We will be back and will share this great find with our friends.

We have been traveling around the Chittering region for a few years now both by car and lately by Motorbike and just traveling to White Dog Farm is a joy. The scenery around Chittering Valley is so beautiful and well worth a trip even if you are not staying at this fabulous place.
We had originally booked an overnight stay for our youngest son and his partner but they were unable to go so we took their place.
We booked into the Cabernet Cottage and found it to be ideal. Everything and I mean everything is catered for. You want for nothing. Excellent music and film collection and everything you need should you wish to dine in. We chose to go to the Stringy bark restaurant for dinner which is just down the road from WDF. The food is excellent but be aware, the servings are huge!!
We have a spa at home near Perth but the views we got from our after dinner spa were amazing, just so many more stars
We had also included a breakfast which was waiting in our fridge along with fresh milk and a warm loaf of bread was delivered early the next morning before I lit the gas BBQ.
If you are thinking of a break where you can completely relax we can certainly recommend this excellent place.

We stayed 3 nights in the Merlot Studio and absolutely loved it. The environment is so peaceful and the studio itself has been really well kitted out. We did breakfast provisions for the first morning and it was enough to feed a small army! We thoroughly enjoyed the spa with an outlook to the trees and wandering around the property makes for a very pleasant start or end to the day. Having a winery/restaurant within walking distance is definitely a plus too. There is lots of information provided in the room and we went for a walk at the nearby 'Peace Be Still' property which affords fabulous views of the Chittering Valley and an opportunity to see a huge variety of wildflowers (we also spotted a couple of kangaroos). I would recommend White Dog Farm without reservation and have already booked a return trip!

Room Tip: The Merlot Studio is great accommodation for a couple, there is also a 2 bedroom cottage and 2 luxur...

Tucked away in a quiet corner of the Chittering Valley is White Dog Farm, a luxury adults only, bed and breakfast, which also has its own cellar door. This has to be the most relaxing, luxurious way to spend a weekend or longer, in the Chittering Valley and its only an hour from the city of Perth.

We have visited White Dog Farm a few times now, both in the Cottage, and also in the Studio. Each of these two styles of accommodation are completely different from one another and are built as stand alone, so you have complete privacy, luxury, and everything you would expect from a 5 star hotel and more.

Both styles of accommodation have a private driveway and covered carport entry. The Cottage has an outdoor heated spa on decking with views to the stars, fantastic on a warm summer night, a log fire plus ceiling fans and air conditioning, a television (42" plasma), DVD and CD, in-house movies, a kitchen with full sized fridge, mircrowave, gas hotplates, electric oven, dishwasher and full compliment of cooking utensils, tea making facilities, coffee machine, the list goes on…..everything is here.

Also, the Studio features an indoor double spa bath with great views over the native bushland, a large veranda with sun lounges and Weber baby Q, king size bed, reverse cycle air conditioning and ceiling fans, and a very erfficient gas log fire which looks and feels great at night time, perfect for consumption of White Dog Farm wines…very nice.

There are also 2 more Suites situated within the rammed earth homestead which we have not stayed in yet, and they are stunning as well.

On the 42 acre property you are within a small vineyard, an olive grove and remnant vegetation which attracts a lot of the local bird life. Close by is the Chittering Wine Trail and just across the road is Stingybark Winery and Restaurant.

Joanne and Peter are your hosts and we must thank them for their warm generous hospitality that we have received on every visit, and I can assure you…if you decide to visit White Dog Farm for a weekend, you will be very impressed at the location and attention to detail. We like to think of the cottage as our "summer house" and the studio as the "winter getaway". It's alway hard to leave WDF but being only an hour from Perth….we WILL be back again.

My husband and I booked a night in the Classic Suite for our 1 year wedding anniversary and had a perfect weekend at WDF. Sampling some of their amazing wines to start at their cellar door and then sitting on our private verandah with perfect countryside views, enjoying a glass of their delicious champagne, was just the perfect start to a nice relaxing weekend. The room was perfect with plenty of added extras that Jo has done an excellent job on and the breakfast the following morning was 5* quality. We will definitely be going back to celebrate another wedding annivesary in the future. Highly recommended for a romantic getaway or a relaxing weekend away from the city.

White Dog Farm is truly amazing!! My husband and I have been there twice - for our engagement and our honeymoon! Jo is a wonderfully kind and thoughtful person whose flair for meeting all your hearts desires for a romantic weekend away is truly unique. The best words to describe the accommodation and all that Jo lays out for your stay is 'magically intuitive'! You will want for nothing!! We are planning a return to the farm soon prior to the birth of our first little girl! Now how is that for three for three of special ways to celebrate special occasions! Thanks for everything Jo! X
