“Really lovely place to stay”
Reviewed 1 February 2014

My husband and I spent one night here but I wish we had the chance to stay for more!
We stayed in room 5 which is one of their luxury rooms. The room was lovely and clean, really well decorated with a lovely en suite bathroom. It was a little smaller than I had expected though. The bed was lovely and comfy! We had a great nights sleep to be rudely woken up by a really noisy blackbird...I mean really!! How rude of him! ;) all the usual perks and extras in the room with an added mini fridge, wine glasses and bottle opener which we thought was lovely.
Breakfast was served at a choice of times and we were not disappointed with the full cumberland breakfast with toast and extra toast with a huge pot of tea for us both. The owners were really lovely and helpful when I had emailed asking for some info
We would def stay there again and would highly recommend it to anyone even in the middle of winter!

Stayed here for 2 nights recently, what a lovely little place.
The lady that runs it is very friendly and helpful even checking the daily weather forecast out for guests.
Beautiful breakfast in the morning which sets you up nicely for the day. Also very nice to watch the birds feeding in the garden of a morning.

Just spent and amazing new year here with another couple and had the best time. Its absolutely spotless and really tasteful, lots of lovely little touches and attention to detail. Breakfast was really nice and was no trouble for them to rustle us up a great packed lunch for our days walking in the rain. Great location in the village too. Would definitely recommend and can't wait to go again.

Elm house ticks all the boxes. It is warm and comfortable: even when you can't find something you want, you know it is somewhere in the room because Mark and Anne really have thought of everything. Breakfasts were absolutely delicious and there was plenty of choice. To top it all, Pooley Bridge nestles at one end of Ullswater so you don't even need to get in your car to walk around the lake.

My wife and I stayed for two nights in Elm House. Mark was a great host and he came out to greet us when he noticed us parking. We were served hot tea on arrival. The ensuite room was spacious and was of high quality. Flat screen TV and wifi were available in room. The shower was strong and hot, which sometimes was not the case in some B&Bs. This was particular important for us after a day’s hike. Talking about breakfast, we had different hot dish choices and need to specify the night before, which I think, is a great idea. I chose traditional English breakfast one day and kipper fillet the other. Both are excellent and nicely cooked. The kipper is one of the best I have, not too salty and cooked to perfection. Other than the hot dish, there were various breakfast items such as juices, yogurt and cereals for our choosing. The peach mango juice was great. Mark was very sincere and suggested us different hiking routes around the area.

Overall, this was a great stay and definitely will be back next time in Pooley Bridge.

Room Tip: We had Room 4 which is great. Though it is facing a small roundabout, there was very few traffic and...

I stayed here with a group of friends for a walking weekend. A great guesthouse with very helpful, kind owners who have thought of everything to make your stay as easy and relaxing as possible. Fabulous rooms and facilities, they even include wine glasses and a bottle opener for you on the tea tray!
