Fab time, great base location for walking around Ullswater.
We stayed in a WigWam, fantastic idea with shower facilities comfy bed, and kitchenette. Heating if needed. Slightest downside was the drain smell but sorted with smelly candle. The shower was super hot and roomy for a wig wam.
The campsite people were very welcoming and helpful.
Pooley Bridge a ten minuet Walk away across a field and along a country footpath (take a torch if it’s dark).
We had a lovely walk to Aira Force about 14 mile return and a few up and hills.
Alternatively you could take a steamer with lots less walking.
All in all a lovely stay.
Thanks

Myself and my girlfriend spent 3 nights with our last day being this time last week. Currently sitting in work close to tears wishing I could turn the clock back. What a fantastic experience. Wigwams are out of this world with comfortable beds, apart from bedding you will want for nothing. I’ll go as far as to say it’s tge best short British holiday I’ve done. Pooley Bridge is like a postcard as is Ullswater Lake. Perfect destination for a short, quirky British break. The meet and greet upon our arrival was perfect which included being shown to the wigwam door. Yes no looking on maps ect. All catered for. Staff where so person centred. Can’t wait to go back there.

Stayed at Waterfoot in one of their Wigwams for 2 nights, with 8 of us on a Lake District cycling weekend. We rented 4 wigwams between us.
The Wigwams were brand new or otherwise very well maintained. The layout inside was surprisingly roomy; a small kitchen with fridge, sink and hob, a dining table to seat 4, a double bed and a sleeping couch, heating and a complete bathroom.
All of the Wigwams are situated in one spacious area all facing a central “green”.
We didn’t use the sites amenities, because we had everything we needed right there.
I would recommend it not only for (well behaved) lads but also for young families and couples.
The local area is stunning and one is not to far away from the main Lake District attraction.
