Enjoyed cycling and the food.
Few problems....
The resort gates were locked at 5pm one afternoon so I had to climb the gate to get back in post my bike ride.

Our clothes and camera equipment where backed away into cupboards and drawers, which was so frustrating because we couldn't find our things.

Pranee didn't listen to what we said regarding when we would b having breakfast and rudely woke us up at 6:30am, by banging our window. Pranee was quite overbearing and treated us like children.

Pranee looked after us re tourist stuff, I asked about going to the white temple, she said too far. However 3 days later Eric drove a couple there. My advise speak to Eric re tourist activities etc.

You eat dinner, when Pranee serves it, which can be quite late.

You receive a bill on the last morning for everything ( accommodation, food, transport etc), so make sure u have plenty of cash.

We spend one week in Mai Siam, enjoying the peace of the exotic and beautiful countryside. Very pleasant after a busy day visiting Chiang Mai and surroundings. The garden is relaxing, the bedrooms are clean, nice and big, the decoration is beautiful, the food amazing, the price more than honest...
So much to say about that place and specially the owners, who made our stay even better than expected. Pranee and Eric (and their lovely daughter Marine), give the best of themselves to please their customers. They are very thoughtful and always available. Eric took us where we wanted to go (he even took us to the hospital very early in the morning as we needed to see a doctor for our son). He knows perfectly the area, can arrange special visits and gives precious advices about the places to visit. No need to open your lonely planet, Eric is there ;-)
Pranee is an amazing Chef. With her good mood and sense of humor, she opened her kitchen and gave some secrets of her authentic-tasting Thai food. Unforgettable moments and tastes! I could say more but it’s better to go, see by yourself and enjoy!
We will always remember this stay as a peaceful and authentic one. We were very happy to meet sincere people like Eric and Pranee and very sad to leave them, like old friends we won’t see for a long time. Kop khun kha Pranee! Merci Eric!

All the previous reviews are accurate about this place. Everything was great - the garden, the hosts, the food, the transportation. But the part I really enjoyed about this place was ability to get outside and run and/or ride bikes in the countryside. Just a short distance away is a beautiful lake. There is very little traffic and the route is basically level. The bicycles at the resort were is good shape and easy to ride. We ran one day and rode bikes the next day (by the way, the road doesn't go all the way around the lake - we ended up at the edge of a rice patty). Great overall experience.

This resort was everything I expected and more. After spending three days in Bangkok, the wonderful aroma of the flora and fauna that met us when we arrived was intoxicating. The owners, Eric and Pranee, greeted us like family arriving for a vist. Our bungalow felt like our own small Thailand retreat. It was very comfortable and private. We were a little worried about the distance away from Chiang Mai but, it was no inconvenice. Eric and Pranee was able to set us up with a short ride to and from town anyime we needed it. They were even able to arrange a great excursion to train with the elephants. When you stay here, be ready to eat the best Thai food in Thailand. Pranee is the BEST COOK and both she and Eric will make sure you begin and end your day with a full stomach. To sum it up, book your next trip to Chiang Mai at the Mai Siam Resort, you will not be sorry. Thank you Eric and Pranee, you will not be forgotten! :)

If you're traveling around Thailand, you may get a little tired of noise, tuk tuks racing around, etc. If so, this is the place to go to.

It's about 30 minutes outside of the city...but they will happily arrange travel for you to get you where you need to be. Eric and Pranee were so helpful. They'll sit down and have a conversation with you anytime...and are eager to get you what you need.

The neighborhood is friendly, and there are some nice areas to go cycling in the country. Beautiful rice paddies...etc. You can also walk up to a small lake...which is great at sunset.

There are only 3 'chalet' style houses on the property, so it's quite peaceful at all times. The rooms are decorated beautifully and are more than adequate.

Best thing going here is the value. Might be the only time in our lives we've paid for a hotel in cash. For the service, the great food, and the nice company...you can't beat it.
