“Wonderful views and food!!!”
Reviewed 27 November 2013

We met friends for lunch to try the special 3 course lunch for £19.95. Excellent food and the staff were very friendly and attentive. Lovely atmosphere. Well worth a visit. We will try an overnight stay next time.

We stayed here for one night at short notice on a dinner bed and breakfast rate. Room 3 was absolutely lovely -double aspect with spectacular views, very spacious, comfy sofa and wooden floorboards. Plus a private terrace/balcony which would be great at other times of the year. However the large distressed wardrobe was rather too distressed for my liking and looked a little grubby (though of course it was not). My husband would have liked a radio in the room.

The huge bathroom was amazing with a roll top bath in the middle, his and hers basins, large mirrors and a modern shower cubicle which seemed some what out of period but useful if you wanted a quick shower. You could lie in the bath and look out at the trees from the window.
The evening meal was fantastic and every dish was beautifully presented like a work of art. The miniature appetisers and petit fours were divine.
The only slight drawback was that noise travelled up from the reception area and we were woken at 1am by chatter as guests departed.

Room Tip: Would recommend rooms 3 and 4

We were lucky to be able to book a room with dinner at short notice and had a wonderful stay.

Our room (number 9) was the last room available and I believe smaller than some, but it had everything to make our stay more than comfortable. The shower was amazing! As others have said the view is spectacular.

Both visits to the restaurant were wonderful. Dinner of the highest quality - my husband was thrilled (and that is not easily achieved!) and a special mention for the toast at breakfast!

Thank you.

We had a large family gathering for Sunday lunch. The food was excellent and the views from our table over the Tamar valley were terrific. We have visited several times in the past - my mother's 90th birthday was celebrated here. This time my husband and I stayed for the night The room was extremely comfortable and breakfast was also excellent - the best eggs benedict I have ever had. This is an absolutely lovely restaurant and hotel, probably my favourite restaurant of all.

Could not fault this Hotel.

Room was spotless, staff were happy, food was excellent.

One of the best Hotels I have ever stayed at.

The view from the room (4) was superb.

We enjoyed an excellent lunch with friends at this county house hotel. The views from the restaurant were stunning. Staff were all friendly and the service was faultless. The food was of a very high quality and beautifully presented. We have decided we must return for a night after Christmas together with our dog Oscar..............yes dogs are even allowed in the garden rooms! This is a must visit for anyone visiting the area.
