“Lovely lunch”
Reviewed 14 June 2014

I booked lunch at the Horn of Plenty as a treat for my Mother on her 92nd birthday and it could not have been better. The food was delicious and we both enjoyed the occasion enormously. The service was excellent and the staff are very friendly and efficient. I would certainly recommend it, in fact, I can't wait to go back on my next visit to the area!

My wife and I went for lunch on a superb sunny Monday, we arrived early to be warmly greeted at the door by a very friendly lady. We decided to sit outside for a beer and coffee admiring the incredible view. When taking our order we were asked if we would like to eat outside which we dually did, a table was promptly set and lunch arrived. I can honestly say it was 5 star dining, this is really top quality food, some people may consider the portions a little small, but they are certainly comparable with other fine dinning restaurants. This is a real gem of a place and we will certainly be back soon and highly recommending to friends. The service provided by all staff was extremely friendly and nothing was too much trouble and they are a real credit to the business, all this for what we considered exceptional value for money. I have paid a lot more for food no where near to the quality of the Horn Of Plenty, well done and look forward to returning soon

Thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality and meal at the restuarant. Theme of the night was Asparagus, but the menu suited all. Course after course was delivered with skill and enthusiasm. Great place, dont miss it.

Our second stay at the Horn of Plenty. Last time we gave it a 5. It is still a delightful hotel. This time we stayed in a garden room which is still part of the overrunning building works. These started at 8.00 and continued until after 6.00. The view from the garden rooms is lovely and we had the bonus of watching the builders go past the French windows whilst we sat in bed!
The staff are still excellent and dinner scrumptious, but the detail at breakfast was lacking, with tasteless melon and a burnt muffin under the Eggs Benedict. The dining room has a wonderful vista with an ever changing view, but someone also needs to look at the colour of the carpet!
The building works are supposed to be finally completed this week, so hopefully they will be able to get their focus back, when it should regain its reputation.

The views over the Tamar valley are breath taking on first arriving at the hotel. Then the gardens have to be admired all before you step foot in the hotel, then the real experience starts. Fine dining at its best, soft massive beds, fluffy towels, bath robes which you could live in, antique furnishings but luxurious and comfortable, friendly and unassuning staff. It is an experience that ought to be on everyones bucket list, I am proud to say I can put a tick next to it on mine.

Room Tip: Two room on the south side of the main house which have massive balconies. Ours was No4 Views fatast...

I arranged a four night break, on a Dinner, Bed & Breakfast basis, to celebrate my husband's birthday. It was our first stay at The Horn Of Plenty, but definately won't be our last! We had a most enjoyable time, our hotel room, which overlooked the front of the hotel, was spacious & very clean. The bed was extremely comfortable, with a cosy duvet & good pillows. It was nice to have the option of the extra pillows & blankets, which were available in the bedroom. On arrival at the hotel, we were warmly, greeted by a very friendly receptionist, who immediately offered us assistance with our luggage. Breakfast was freshly prepared with good quality ingredients, extra tea, coffee & toast were provided very promptly, by courteous staff. Pre dinner drinks, were served in a beautiful lounge, where we could relax, whilst selecting from the exciting dinner menu. Dinner was served in a light & airy dining room, food was absolutely delicious each night, definately a highlight of our visit. We were made to feel most welcome throughout our stay, all the staff were courteous & friendly, a real asset to the hotel. We look forward to returning to The Horn of Plenty.

Had a wonderful stay here, the food was perfect and the accommodation comfortable, one could never tire of the scenic views. The staff were very friendly, helpful and polite, there was only one small niggle and that was my room was very hot and stuffy, this was because there wasn't a window only patio doors, as I was on the ground floor I felt uncomfortable in leaving those open, perhaps a metal bi-folding lattice work style door could be installed to give that security and thus allow fresh air in. I had a very enjoyable experience and would most definitely return. Thank you to everyone.
