We've had many B&B breakfasts, variations on the 'full english'. It must be easy for a cook to get into a routine over the years, and produce something that's perfectly OK but undistinguished.

Not so here - everything was fresh and tasty; I can't remember having had a better one! It set us up well for the next section of Offa's Dyke path.

Hi,
We do pride ourselves on our breakfasts and are really glad you enjoyed it. Most of our produce comes from within 5 miles of our B&B and is really fresh. We bake our own bread and the combination of great 'local ingredients and our attention to cooking food well we think we do a pretty good job (By the way Lufthansa actually wrote a three page spread o our breakfast for their inflight magazine11111 Unpaid fo !!!! WOW. LOL.

I stayed here for one night and all i can say is that it's well worth the money. The owners were welcoming and friendly. They were attentive to our every need and the rooms were more than adequate. The decor is charming and very inkeeping with the style of the property. Breakfast was delicious and a very relaxed affair. The choice was superb.

If there were any complaints to be had, i personally found the mattress too soft, and although we didnt ask, the available hot dinners mentioned on leaflets and the breakfast menu were not offered either.

Nevertheless, these issues are minute, we had a wonderful stay and wouldnt hesitate to return. The B&B is lovely, the location is picturesque and the hosts are welcoming. Thoroughly recommended if you're looking for somewhere to stay in Tintern!!!

HI,

Actually the mattresses are expensive really firm but we put toppers on them so that it gives the guest a feelting of luxury in a firm mattress setting. We do get hundreds of comments every year about how comfortable the beds are.

What a shame about the evening meals. It is on our website with a sample menu but we dont push it because we know we are more expensive than the local pubs (although our food is better and is all inclusive of starters, deserts and coffees/teas). We have never had a single complaint about our evening meals and think they are great value and we simply post the offering on the webisite. We don't offer it on arrival because we dont want food hanging around waiting for someone to order it. For example if you order seafood we will pick it up usually on the day and it will have been landed the previous night so you will be eating fish caught less than 24 hours before (so delicious).

Really happy that you enjoyed your stay with us though and hopefully will se you again when you can sample our evening meals.

This was a quality experience as Ian and Anika opened up their home, making you feel at home. Breakfast was top notch with a cooked breakfast feeling healthy! The dogs and pups made it a bit more special even though we are not really "dog people". The bed was extra comfortable and well needed after a walk that went from relaxed to very tricky and demanding. Sunday was a lot easier.

We spent three days at the Old Rectory. Wonderful view of the river, excellent breakfast and comfy beds. Ian and Anika were friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Lots to do in the immediate area, including a vineyard, brewery, farm shop and tea shop at the former station.

Room Tip: Ask for a river view.

We have travelled a great deal over the years and stayed in many B & Bs. One of the most important features (especially as we usually travel on a motorbike ) is to feel relaxed, rested and at home. You certainly feel this at The Old Rectory especially over breakfast ( which is excellent in every way). I loved the decor - we were pleased with helpful information and the view from our room was magical. Nothing seemed too much trouble for Anika and Ian (the owners) - a lovely couple.

Room Tip: On the front for the view
