“Good location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 July 2013

I stayed three nights.

Bed was comfortable.
Perfectly clean
Breakfast is good
Good Cheese Bread with Dinner

I could almost see the river, lying on the bed.
The views from all but 2 bedrooms are good and fairly tranquil
Resident dog is well behaved

Location is good...1 mile walk to The Abbey.
Historic Church next door.

Easy, and beautiful, drives to Hereford, Hay-On-Wye, Forest of Dean, Gloucester, Chepstow.

Access "road" is fairly narrow, and view of cars running on main road is poor.
Car parking is public, with no reserved places for the guest house. On some
days the last car in may not find parking!

Dinner is 3 courses for £21 A glass of wine £3.60
Dinner was quite good, but vegetables were not first rate (should be fresh and tasty)
I had apple and blackcurrant "crumble" which was very tasty, but probably not cooked
long enough, as I could distinctly taste the sugar, and the flour
Dinner, overall, a little bit too expensive for the quality.

Hairdryer was not strong enough

Room Tip: Do not book rooms with "garden view", unless you are running out of options in the area...

We only stopped here for one night as we were at a wedding nearby. It's a beautiful part of the world and the guesthouse is next to a small church on a bend in the River Wye. The accommodation was great and we had a good nights sleep and a lovely breakfast in the morning. It would have been good to stay for longer.

Our two night stay last week proved to be another success. Angela & Peter again made us both welcome and the accommodation as before first class including breakfast and dinner each day.
The area has plenty to offer walkers both locally and further afield.
Frodo the resident canine is an absolute charmer, never ever getting in the way though quietly enjoys the attention of those around him.
To be able to travel about an hour from our home and settle into a relaxing establishment with so much beauty around, absolute heaven. Maureen Harris.

We spent two nights at the Parva Guesthouse and enjoyed a very pleasant stay. The room was comfortable and clean although the floor was annoyingly creaky but to be expected to a degree with a building this old! The bathroom was clean with a decent shower and plenty of hot water. My only little niggle was that the towels were on the small side. We were in room 3 which gave splendid views of the river and the valley. Breakfast was decent with very nice bacon in particular and we enjoyed a good meal in the restaurant on our second night. The hosts were very friendly and helpful, not too in-your-face but around when you needed them. Tintern itself is a good base for the attractions of the Wye Valley and plenty to see and do locally without even getting into the car.

Room Tip: Go for a river view if you can

We stayed at the Parva Guesthouse in mid April 2013 for five nights and enjoyed the hospitality of its Owners. The old farmhouse had a certain charm, very pleasing on the eye, with its rustic rooms and décor. Our room was very comfortable and the evening meals and breakfasts were very tasty.
The surrounding areas were beautiful, with many interesting sites and walks close by

Room Tip: Ask for room 8 as this overlooks the river frontage

Tintern is an excellent base for a few days. Stunning Tintern Abbey is a mile walk along the beautiful River Wye. Abbey Mill, local Vineyard and other attractions all make for an interesting village spread out along the river bank. Forest of Dean, Monmouth, Chepstow very close by. B&B with 8 rooms enabled our small group of 5 couples to enjoy a short break away in very convivial and informal surroundings. Bedrooms have great views over the river. Room 5 with a shower and double bed very comfortable with plenty of drawer and hanging space. Good size lounge, with honesty bar, large enough to accommodate a full house as was the restaurant which offered a good choice, good quality 3 course dinner for £21 and reasonable wine list. Breakfast fine. Angela and Peter very welcoming. Homely rather than refined.

Room Tip: Top floor rooms have best views but second flight of stairs might challenge the less mobile!"

Beautiful building but a tight turn in from the main road, suggest you turn in from the car park of the pub opposite.
Rooms pleasant but needs a bit of updating. Clean and comfortable but old wall paper.
The lounge has a good selection of drinks and an honesty pad to record your drinks.
Food is OK, especially the breakfasts, but the evening meal, when we were there was a little disappointing.
A major plus is that they welcome dogs and are on the Wye Valley walk. Don't try to drive along the exit road towards Tintern unless you have a narrow car! My landrover almost caught its wing mirrors, I had to reverse out!

Room Tip: No pool and don't swim in the river! The Wye walk makes a superb fitness centre!
