“Fabulous - don't miss it”
Review of Ciudad Encantada

Ciudad Encantada
Reviewed 26 October 2017

It's a bit of a hike outside the town - I guess some 20km - but it's well worth it. The geological formations are amazing anyway - but the whole area is laid out really sympathetically, with plenty of information everywhere to explain what you're looking at. WE were there on a lovely sunny morning and the whole place is magical

Just 40 minutes north east of Cuenca and driving through stunning landscapes with eagles and buzzards swooping overhead, Ciudad Encantada is well worth a visit.
We paid a reduced oap rate of €4 and had a wonderful hours walk around the amazing rock formations that were the location for parts of "Conan the Barbarian".

For the €5 entry fee a great afternoons entertainment.
The rock shapes and water carved balancing features are magnificent. It's a beautiful place.

We spent 90 minutes or so wandering around here. Interesting rock formations even if those named are a little far fetched to imagine. Easy to follow route and signage means there is no real need for a guide. Some of the English used in the displays is very technical but you can get the gist pretty quickly. Take water if you're there in the heat of summer. Buy souvenirs inside the park rather than at the stall just outside (which is twice the price).

I don't think there are many places similar in the world, so I would recommend visiting it. The tour takes an hour. You're given a map to follow a clear path. It's a fun walk discovering various and odd rocky shapes. Descriptions for each monument are available in English and Spanish.

Opening hours: 10am to 9pm with gates closing at 7'30pm.
Ticket is at 5 Euros for adults. Tour with guide: 6 Euros.
Kids from 8-12 years old pay 4 Euros. Those younger go in for free.
