We visited Moemmedel by coincidence as the regular spot we have business lunches was booked full and we did not regret it for a second.
The menu in this family run business is limited to a few dishes and a menu choice and in my experience this often indicates a promise for freshness of ingredients.
And that is what we got. As a starter I had homemade shrimp croquettes and these were near to perfect: crispy and dry on the outside and savourishly rich on the inside. The steak that followed was top quality, and the freshly whipped béarnaise is up there with the best I have ever tasted.
You cant blame Moemmedel to be very experimental in the options, but they sure now how to work the traditionals. The interior shows the intrinsic eye to detail and the aspiration to receive customers as house guests.
Even when staying in Leuven, the 10 minutes trip to this little oasis is more than worth your while.
